I'm sure everyone has seen or at least heard about my thread yesterday where I claimed to have secured the rights to KSP2. If not, I'll bring up to speed!

Basically Take Two wants to be rid of KSP2 yesterday, but if they can salvage it, they will save it simply to save face in front of their shareholders. They are not going to say anything publicly until after their shareholders meeting because ultimately the decision is up to the shareholders. Maybe some other group has made them offers? I do not know.

In an attempt to not wind you all up, I won't say anything further until I have proof.

Not at the current moment. We will have to wait until after the next shareholders meeting.

Well, we will see if we can make something of KSP2. I know everyone is hoping for the best, including the shareholders. I'm sure they are just working out details with their accountants kinda thing.

Oh, I'm on the phone with Strauss Zelnich and he's asking 490 million for the rights to the IP. Might help to skip a coffee every other day

Possibly. But these of us with experience would likely, in combination, also cost more than the entire IG, and that's part of the problem. It's not just, "Can you build a team that can solve the problem?" but also, "Can you build a team that can solve the problem on the budget you're given?"

If T2 decided that KSP2 is worth it to them if it costs X, and they're finding out it takes 2X to build that game, well, you're not going to solve it by throwing better talent at it, because all that does is bring the budget to 4X.

I begin to wonder if it would be easier to reverse engineer KSP1 or KSP2 and start from there or start from scratch .

I’d (and think others too) be onboard and I’d even support a meaningful EA that’s the complete opposite of how this one went.  
Surprised no one here at least alluded to such a project.

Well if you believe me, let's say this is the period where they try to find higher bidders than me.

At bare minimum, I think you would have to beat what they expect from residual KSP 1 + KSP 2 sales over the next couple of years, then add enough extra to make it worthwhile for them to sell.  (I don't see any signs that they are desperate to sell, I guess that might change when the next GTA releases, if it isn't well received).

It is a long shot but that would be quite the story. KSP community so fed up with KSP 2 that they buy the rights to the game and fix it themselves.

It'll probably cost them as much to hire someone to look after it as it will make money in sales per year, in its current state, realistically. I don't think thousands of people are purchasing the game.

I doubt they would hire anyone to look after either version, but just let it sell as is.  Pay for forum hosting, have someone available to answer any emails from steam or any of the other storefronts, and that would be that.

Comrades, I would recommend now first of all to take care of a backup platform for communication and discussion, including mods. And saving some of the discussions there. It is not known what will happen to this forum next and how long we will be allowed to communicate here. This forum can be closed at any time.
