KSP_Constellation_LaytheRefuelling_zps6eb51021.jpg

The KSS Constellation rendezvous with the second of two Connestoga fuel tankers in low Laythe orbit, taking on fuel to support landing operations.

KSP_ArroBullet_LaytheTouchdown_zps21fe4797.jpg

I've already posted the first aerial reconnaissance mission; here's Shepcas, Nelnie, and Joniel after the first landing, on a convenient tidal flat near the equator.

This island, if you're curious.

And last, "Fat Albert" braking into an orbit about Jool that will intercept Pol in 5 days. The plan is to orbit Pol to drop landers and a rover, then move inward to Tylo for refuelling at its Connestoga followed by more landers and a rover. Then inward to Vall for more landers, and lastly if the fuel holds out "Fat Albert" will head up to Bop.

The second of two spaceplanes sent to dock with the Jool Expeditionary Cruiser (JEC-1) in Low Kerbin Orbit. The JEC-1 mission is bound for Laythe where the spaceplanes will be used for airborne exploration and flight training. A number of other vehicles are on the way as well, including a fuel dock and a surface base.

I haven't played this game in a while, decided to get some realism mods and start a new save.

Not even on my first sub-orbital trip when disaster strikes:

screenshot32.png

Somehow Bill left the ship without EVA fuel. To make matters worse we have no RCS and we can't re-ignite our engines.

screenshot34.png

Through the presaverance of the crew, Bill is finally saved.

screenshot37.png

We can go home!

screenshot40.png

Wait

screenshot49.png

What

screenshot51.png

NO. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN.

screenshot53.png

RIP.

screenshot56.png

I forgot how fun this game was :v:

HOLY CRAP!!!

And the expressions on the Kerbals faces are PERFECT!

"It's time to buzz the tower, Goose!"

"No, wait, Mav, no no!"

"YEEE-HAAAA!!!"

(Tower Controller spills coffee on himself as the plane blasts by)

"G^$@#%m it!"

Thanks, but, I have to admit that particular flight ended badly a second or two later.

But, I made this short video today while I was flying.

This was actually the most favorable outcome for this flight, since Gilgard flew up past 70 km after destroying his Thermal Turbojet (nice going, rookie!) with barely any horizontal velocity and I barely pulled him out of the dive and "landed."

It all happened on Alternis Kerbin, obviously. Lesson Learned here was don't fly straight up with a Thermal Turbojet powered by an antimatter reactor.

Also Thermal Turbojets are ridiculous when powered by antimatter reactors and running in atmospheric mode. 1km/s and above at 1km altitude? Beats the SR-71.

This plane is flying backwards. With no power. Over the ocean.

At least it landed... :D

"Fat Albert" finally made it to Pol. I didn't really appreciate how small Pol is until braking into polar orbit.

KSP_FatAlbert_Pol1_zps4ef5f356.jpg

Popcorn lander probe "Pol 1" touched down with over 60% fuel remaining. It's canted like that on purpose, to catch the sunlight. After that shot, I skipped it further down slope to rest at the base of a crater; that way it'll stay put without having to keep the SAS on. It's twin brother, Popcorn "Pol 2", is in an equatorial orbit 15km up looking for another good landing site. I'd originally planned to put a rover down on Pol, but the terrain's too rugged and the gravity's too light I think; maybe I'll keep it as a back-up in case the first try at Tylo gets wrecked.

Art-y shot from Popcorn "Pol 1", getting Jool and the Sun.

KSP_ProbeBusBrian_DunaEjection_zpsf7bf1d47.jpg

Probe Tug "Brian" back at Duna burned low and fast into the Kerbin return window, taking with it the ascent stage of my Duna surface sample return probe. In 60 days, that capsule at the tip will be in the hands of Kerbal scientists... and we'll at last find out if the dust tastes like ketchup or paprika.

That second capsule. Gimme gimme.

The little one with Jeb in it? That's Lack's work!

The proportions are even pretty accurate!

And then there's a space station.
