Fatal error with B9 Parts Switch Mod in KSP v1.11.25 on Steam (Mods through CKAN)

Hello, I am having trouble running the game where it throws up Fatal errors while the game and patches are loading, and asks me to quit the game and fix these issues. As far as I can understand the B9 parts switch mod is lacking some types of fuel tank configurations on my install. I am running the game through Steam and the mods through CKAN. I usually run verification for all files via steam and constantly update the mods on CKAN before playing the game: however that is the extent of the housekeeping I perform.

I confess I am not very educated on what these errors mean or how to solve them, so I am asking for help.

To help, I am also including three photographs from CKAN showing the list of mods I've installed recently (23/09/2024), including the "B9 Part Switch" mod by Blowfish, and a bunch of other mods including near and far future tech mods. I think there mustbe something wrong with my installs for these mods because the game was running fine before I installed these.

@ModHippo Howdy. Here's what I can point out for you:

  • Remove Deep Sky Core. I stopped supporting that and the mods it's tied to.
  • Rational Resources 3.0 introduces GameData/000_RationalResources/ where the resource templates and B9 tank definitions have been moved into. Between CRPDefault and ClassicStock (or CSRDefault) ensure only one of these folders exists. This bit isn't set up yet in CKAN so it's not installed so people's installs break. Sorry.
  • Some mod I do not recognize appears to be adding a B9 module with ID "FuelMix" to the OPT engines and yet another mod is breaking that or a dependency is missing or not installed correctly.

    • SIMPLEXResources - NearFuture Electrical.cfg is missing a ] at the ends of lines 47, 56, 63.
    • SimplexResources conflicts with RationalResourcesELUtilities. RocketParts resource is used by RR to calculate B9 volume for EL's tanks but is replaced by a simplex resource.
    • SimplexResources conflicts with RationalResourcesCompanion. Ore is used by RR to calculate B9 volume for Ore tanks but is replaced by a simplex resource.

Ah.  I do wonder whether I should make SIMPLEX Resources not compatible with RR on CKAN, but I'll keep plugging away at making it agnostic.

@ModHippo, looking through you KSP.log, you have SIMPLEX Resources installed - is there a reason you want both this and Rational Resources?

I've done some work to make RR friendly to other playmodes. It can now accept template packs somewhat like Kerbalism profiles (and allow easily not providing the original templaces for CRP or Angel-125's Classic Stock). Example, RR could now spread Simplex Resources across RR compatible planet packs in its "rational" fashion if you or someone else would write the configs that say "A mineral planet has this combination; A silicate/sand planet has this other combination." In that sense there is no conflict. It's clearly just any ISRU integration stuff that have conflicts. Both our mods try to do the same things to the stock parts and to EL parts.

A quick glance at Simplex Assembly and Propulsion tells me there's no conflict there with my mods.

Same as what Simplex does :)  i modelled mine on yours!

But i think i may need to spend some time writing a compatability patch.  I'm now rethinking how i do MetalParts instead of RocketParts which is where all the conflicts come in not just here but all over the place.

I'll be looking into this tonight.

@JadeOfMaar Thank you for your reply! I followed your instructions for the same and basically purged all the mods and started installing them again, trying to make sure I don't install something with overlapping duel tank configurations, removed SIMPLEX (for now). I have also removed Deep Sky Core and basically the purge was done to see if I could flush out the problem wholesale. However I have perhaps run into newer problems hehe :0.0:

Also for this, I made sure and I only have the "CCK"folder in my "RationalResources" folder. However, I did notice that in my install it doesn't say "000_RationalResources" but only "RationalResources". I've made sure from CKAN that I am running version 3.0. Do you think this narrows down the problem?

You're not supposed to touch GameData/RationalResources/ . I'm telling you about GameData/000_RationalResources/ . These are two very separate folders with separate purposes. CKAN doesn't know about the latter folder yet so it'son you to handle that.

I'm sorry I must seem really stupid but here's a screenshot of my "GameData" folder, the folder you're talking about is simply not there :/

Edit: I seem to have somewhat solved the issue, I am no longer getting the fatal errors.

But unfortunately I also had to remove all the Sterling mods as well as the Rational Resources mods (except for the main one). I think the problem may be located in one of the mods from Rational Resources (e.g.: "Aluminium", "Blacksmith", "Jet Family" or "Squad") as re-installing those seemed to have cased the problem.

Basically, RR 3.0 has both a 000_RationalResources and a Rational Resources. You need both, but CKAN doesn't know about 000_rationalresources yet. So it breaks 

I think the more recent update to RR removes 000_RationalResources? I know @JadeOfMaarwas advised to do that by the CKAN guys.

That would be v 3.0.2. Simply installing that makes the problem go away. If it doesn't then something else is going on.

If @ModHippo has this version and still gets problems with all my mods I really need to know.
