A log would be good. Also take a screenshot of your Gamedata folder.

I posted my error log in the other post it says right on the top section I ran outta memory.     I ran task manager while testing and sure enough I'm hitting 16 gigs.    when I get home I'll post my game data folder (out getting car parts)     I'm totally baffled by this,     I've never seen ksp spike to 16 gigs of ram    I've never had any game spike that high,   this is insane,   it has to be a memory leak or a graphics setting

I've been in a similar situation, using up 16 gigs of ram, but on Linux. That shouldn't happen. What it probably is is a memory leak or something of the nature (as you said yourself). You have good hardware, no way it can't handle the KSP graphics.

It's likely an outdated mod doing something it shouldn't behind the scenes. You are on 1.2.1 right?

We'd need the full log. What you posted just shows the crash, not the chain of events leading up to it.

Yeah I'm in 1.2.1      I'm using a few 1.2 mods.  this is weird because I'm using a vanilla test rocket and everything up until launch pad I'm fine which typically module manager glitches for me have caused issues in the past,  so I've checked this a bunch,  once launch pad with rocket loads it spikes on memory from 10 gigs to 12,  on launch it keeps ticking up till 16 then lock up.     I'm wondering if it's SVT / ground textures causing the issue.    it's progressively worse as I climb I'm altitude.        I just got home I'll try to find the logs and post,   also going to try to switch from SVT to eve for my clouds and textures,     does anyone know if active texture management would be a good option?

Also does any know a quick key command to kill executable on Windows 10,   this crash/ lock up can take up to 30 minutes for me to kill ksp once it occures

Ctrl alt del takes forever lol

If its SVT you would be the first person to have that issue so im going to go out on a limb and say that isnt it.

This issue is typically caused by outdated mods. Normally part mods. 

also, its doesnt matter if you are using just stock test rockets. KSP loads all parts when it is booted up. This is something that has been brought up numerous times around the forum. turns out part packs have a pretty big impact on ram and the game in general even when they are not being used in flight.

I see your issue..

[Kopernicus]: StarLightSwitcher: Set active star => Kerbol

You are using a planet pack correct. If that planet pack changes the name of the sun, quite a few changes need to be made in the scatterer configs. If you are using SVE that explains the NullRef. In SVE, scatterer is looking for the Sun as the main star.. the planet pack you are using changes the suns name to Kerbol.. that will mess up scatterer and cause the exceptions. You will have to go and change the name in scatterer or just delete the sun cfg in your planet pack folder.

Awww crap it's loading lol    thank you I'll try that and let you know lol

I've got a feeling the easy way may screw up the planet pack,   just in case while it loads for the next 20 minutes   how many configs and lines in scatter will i have to edit?

I'm using kerbal star system and orgins planet packs     got a feeling this might be alot of editing

to add multiple Suns to scatterer you will have to do a lot of editing.

i just did a tutorial for multiple suns the other day.. it may help you as well

Is what needed?  Scatterer doesn't add anything physical to the game and doesn't add detail.  All it adds is a atmospheric haze.
