Jeb saying farewell do his last ship. He, as well as all crew and weaponry, will be transferred over to my newer, larger and more efficient cruiser. The "Triangle of Doom" will then be blow'd up. I hope. It's proven quite resilient with three - four layers of armor over sensitive areas. Even took an SRB to the hull and was still operational.

Here it is folks.. the XF-100.. there really isn't any more I can do to tune it.. It pulls up just a hair, but we will call that character eh. :)

Not content to waste a lunch break our engineers took the spare parts of the XC-700 and created this frigate, 130 parts, and a Dv of about 4500 she does not have the range of the larger cruisers, but she accelerates 75% faster than them and has the weapons hardpoints of a ship twice her size.

Shiny, I like how that ship has evolved, looks lighter overall too.. Your ships though aren't from Kerbin.. they are from the futuristic civilization living on Eve. lol

Space invaders from Eve? :D

Although technically, any space-faring civilization would have to be at least somewhat benevolent, or they would have blown themselves to smithereens in wars... Much like us 50 years ago!

After unmanned testing to Duna and then on to Jool, and a few design tweaks later, Jeb has finally commandeered The BC-01A Broadsword. He got a little crazy and stared straight like this for about two minutes. I wonder what he's so fixated on?

Oh...yeah, should have know he'd like the es'plody things...

Fully fueled after draining 4 fuel drones in LKO and my abandoned Mun station. Fully armed with 18 smart torpedoes, 6 hardened sepratron projectiles, and 2 SRB rockets. Side docking ports also allow it to carry mission dependent cargo, in this case, more fuel for my Laythe station.

Missiles in space are somewhat of a bad idea, laser weapons make much more sense in the real world; with advanced computers, perfect target tracking renders ship agility pointless, and the lack of travel time means first strike capability over missile ships. To simulate this my ships are using romfarer lasers and the sunbeam laser. Manned craft are also fairly pointless, and dead kerbals are bad for PR.

First is a frigate, the L-100 Typhoon, a light hull with 4 lasers and 6 ion drives, it relies on shooting down incoming missiles for defence over heavy armour plates.

Its vertical shape adds a peculiar radar signature to confuse enemies as to which direction it is facing.

13T

4600m/s dV (but very low acceleration. Its a mechjeb job.)

zocnElp.png

And a cruiser, the L-200C Panther, twin hulled with 18 lasers and 4 NERVA engines, it is designed destroy any and all targets in a system, it can also carry payload between its hulls thanks to a central docking port, allowing it to help with logistics. Once agin mainly reliant on shooting down missiles, but it can keep moving while missing half a hull thanks to plenty of RCS ports.

83T

5000m/s dV (better acceleration this time)

I can supply craft files if needed, but i wont unless asked :P

Actually missile do make sense.

Think about romfareres missiles , specifically cruise missile they can hit a target from 90 KM AWAY and lasers can only hit a radius of 2km around the ship, They overheat and they also require lots of electricity and to add to this lasers have a firing arc wher as missile can hit in an omnidirectional area

EDIT:

And my missile Dreadnought which uses the missile specified above can launch 48 huge missile at your ship and approx 30 medium sized missile from its luncher bay oh and the large missile have balst radius of 2km so shooting them down would be a bad idea since the blast would destroye your ship in the process.

I think we have a winner here

I can see I have angered the gods of missile weaponry :P

So a ship with 78 fairly big missiles has got to weigh hundreds of tons, I don't doubt.

So how does it fare against 20-30 frigates with the same total mass?

Blast radius in ksp? Pics or it didn't happen.

The downsides of lasers; yes they have a firing arc, but that only matters at close range, and ksp ships dont have the agility to circle a ship at under 1km like in eve or something.

The power requirements are pretty large, yes, but the destructive power you might get out of 1 ton of nuclear reactor and a laser is a lot more than 1 ton of missile propellant and payload.

Overheating in ksp is fixed with, well not holding down the fire button...

I forgot to say, the sunbeam lasers range is unrealistically short, by a few orders of magnitude, and a missile with a blast radius of 2km is undoubtedly nuclear; nuclear weapons don't detonate properly from overheating.

Working on a frigate that will (hopefully) be a challenger to the XF-100, and will (hopefully) bring some new technology to the table. Hopefully.

Looks strangely similar to the millennium falcon also lol :P

Hopefully I can give donlokiman a little competition :)

I love that he is using that central girder as a spine of the ship - it give is so much resiliance againts enemy attacks. Fuel tanks may get destroyed, but ship can hold together just fine.

Currenlty I use XC-305 commissioned as Marduk Class Light Escort Cruiser (MCLEC) and XF-100 commissioned as Grasshopper Class Frigate.

XC-305 has amazing range and I believe that it can go to Laythe and back to Kerbin without refueling on Laythe, also it is better protected and can carry 4 passangers - something I´ll often use, since my mythership can´t carry more than crew of 3. Having 12 hardpoints for smart missiles is good enought for me, since I can put more supplies on big docking ports.

XF-100 - light, agile and heavily armed. Having same 12 hardpoints for carrying ordonance XF-100 can deliver a punisihing strike. It packs enought dV to patrol for long time in Kerbin system and I´m sure, it will be useful even in Joolian system, since it is quite fuel efficient it will be better than those fuel hungry cruisers for some aplications.

941697_4842178340325_700505306_n.jpg

XC-701B - It is a gamechanger. Big ship, loads of fuel, plenty of power and it looks just like anything else due to its bridge siting sligtly off center line of the ship. I´m still waiting to recieve first production model equiped according to my specs and with launch stage. Then it will by commissioned as "Carina Class" and will provide security to my operations in Joolian system and it will propably carry some cargo and supplies as well. It is true capital ship.

Here is my first mothership-thing. It is currently not weaponized, but I plan to attach missile nodes to some empty hard points I have. I originally made it for scientific purposes, but 'splosions are cool:cool:. Here is the chronicle of the first voyage of the...Space Squid!:sticktongue: (yes, I named it after a character in a particular minecraft song that ate ponies and did other weird things)

I had to go back to kerbin orbit due to a RCS fuel shortage. Here is Commander Jebadiah inspecting his fine ship

Might not be as good as boosters, but still makes Jeb happy

So yeah, pretty primative.

Once I get it fueled up and full of missiles I plan to take it to Eve orbit. I am working on a better ship and will update once finals are done for me (the 22nd)

See y'all later!
