Ok time to start work on the Fr-7 line of ships. :) Was going to take a break from KSP but the WoT community quickly frightened me back here :P Always forget how good this community is. :D

Yo! I'm in WoT SEA lol havent been playin much WoT (or KSP due to DOW:DC)...how are things? lol :D

I'm dissapointed with the dV, only around 7500, maybe slightly less even. :( May need to revise the design. So glad i got kerbal engineer :D

Things are.... imature :( They are so overcompetative its not even fun anymore.

Ok the Fr-7A: A heavy frigate for mid range use in the kerbol system.

Cost: 227520

Mass: 261.8Mg

ISP: 800

Thrust: 960KN

dV: 7413

TWR: 0.37

Time: 21.48

Parts: 403

I have to say i'm not at all happy with the dV. I designed the ship to be larger and have a greater range than the Co-8 but ended up with the same range. :( Gonna give the ship a big redesign soon.

Also, my cruiser has DV of around 8200, but I also have undockable tanks tanks on the sides that I drop after I burn out of Kerbin's influence.

I want to boost this ones dV to at least 8000 but major modifications will be needed.

Can you put on new drop tanks before each mission?

I just have structural beams with ports sticking out the side of it. Very easy to attach new ones with each launch. And I was wrong, MechJeb puts it over 9000dv with 8 slim drop tanks equipped.

Side docking ports also allow it to carry mission dependent cargo, in this case, more fuel!

What do you need over 7000 m/s for in a ship that cant land? :P thats easily enough to go anywhere you would like and back.

Also whats up with your units, megagrams? Who calls a ton a megagram... at that, remember Isp is in seconds and dV in m/s.

And here's a larger craft I made a couple of days ago, originally designed as a cargo hauler I realised having a big hangar allows for a lot of configuration options, so it could be kitted out as a carrier or filled with missiles and fuel as a battleship.

The L-250B Lynx Strategic cruiser is mainly used to provide logistical support to more aggressively built vessels, but can be fitted out with heavy armaments if necessary.

One of my four "Watch Tower" stations orbiting Jool as the first line of defense for my Laythe Colony. Each houses Kerbals and docks two Heavy Interceptors (The other one is en-route). It is equipped with ION propulsion for station keeping and the detachable housing quarters has it's own propulsion and guidance system should the station need to be abandoned.

I'm just quoting kerbal engineer, I assumed it was just some made up unit and didn't really think about it :L Ahhh its been a while since I was at uni last and the bad habits are creeping in already lol.

I'm going to stick a SSTO in the cargo bay and I want the main ship to be able to get to laythe and back.

23278: That station is orbiting pretty low :o gotta be almost scraping the atmosphere. Station and fighters look cool though :D

So I made that more realistic craft, taking info from Atomic Rockets It's not perfectly realistic, the radiators are a very basic design for example, but I tried. Damned robotics and HSTW sunbeams used here.

mWdTobX.png

It has 1 weapon, a laser that it has to aim by pointing the entire ship at the target, I put sunbeams in the dish so that I can visually have it fire, but realistically it would probably be ultraviolet or even X-ray based due to the higher energy and penetration than with visible light.

uPYPtLJ.png

Firing, radiators extended. The radiators are necessary to dissipate the waste heat from the nuclear reactor and laser (large lasers get very hot), which would otherwise build up until it destroyed the ship. However they make a good target in combat, so they retract, and the ship just has to take the short term build up.

WrPrmAi.png

view of 1 of 2 reactor cores, the scanners on the back also rotate to cover more sky area, the ship could roll very slowly whilst the scanners rotate to get a scan view of the whole sky.

Holy... how much ÃŽâ€V dis it have with the fuel pods in it? And if you can post some pics of the bay in battleship and carrier load?

This seems more like a orbital defense station than a ship, given how the whole thing needs to rotate to fire at its target. Kinda like the Lagrange Point satellite from Stargate: Atlantis.

Also, Xray laser seems impracticable, as as far as I'm aware, to make a usable one, you need a nuke; how about a particle beam cannon or a antiproton beam?

Also, does anyone have a design for a orbital hanger station floating around? I want to try fighter designs but I'm wanting them to be more "Garrison" fighters than "Line" Fighters, and I'm more of a fan of orbital installations than ships of the line.

Comrade Jenkens: Well, I´m still waiting for delivery of some X-700B ships which will become operational as Carina class cruisers replacing X-305 series Marduk class. Now I´m having some fun with XF-100 series which is commissioned as Grasshopper class frigate serving at KADF

First ever operational XF-100 "KADF Valiant" on a routine patrol in low Kerbin orbit -notice amount of missiles carried on hardpoints:

I think you're right about the X-ray thing, I heard crazy ways to get gamma rays too.

I was going to say how you can't get big lasers to move on turret mounts unless you have a ridiculously big ship, but I also heard about using reflectors to take one beam and split onto different targets.

An antiproton beam is just wildly impractical, as is any antimatter weapon, I do like the side effect of particle beams that they'll make tons of gamma radiation and fry electronics and kill crew even if they don't cut the hull open.

Several days ago I said I would post a few ships however hardware and life issues have conspired to cause issues for me. Long story short I will be posting ships starting later today or tomorrow no pictures yet (I'm on my phone writing this) progress stands as follows:

Dirk interceptor: ready for release

Gladius fighter: final testing

Rapier Bomber: final testing

Saber corvette: initial testing

Scimitar destroyer: redesign

Katana battle cruiser: building

Claymore battleship: planned

Longbow carrier: in development

Crossbow escort carrier: planned

Some names have been changed since before and the bombardment ship is gunna be awhile.

I see you also have a naming convention based around pointy objects. Nice touch naming the carriers after projectile weapons!

After looking at this thread for a long while now, I decided to come up with my own crafts. I made a bunch of them, but these two are my favorite ones :D

Sparrow

The ship is orbiting around the moon right now. It has 3 docking jr ports a bit hidden, perfect for missile, although I would get those into action groups since it might be hard to click on them.

Sparrow Mk. II

After flying around with the first one, I thought it needed a bit more BANG. Soo, I added more fuel, armor, and better engines (should've used the nuclear for efficiency, but this is meant to go fast! They can easily be replaced tho.) This time, I actually loaded some missiles and created action groups for them. It hold 12 missiles and will shoot 4 at a time if you go with the action groups.
