Guys i have an idea for the project,

why don't we add a station on jool orbit ,so if a ship is low on fuel it just has to align with the station and get enogh fuel to get to laythe orbit ,use it as a emergency refueling station, heck it could have it's own engines so it can get closer to refuel the

stranded ship!:D

Well, I´ve considered that previously before launching the project, but it actually requires more fuel to get orbit around Jool than getting capture around Laythe.

Safety of our crews is major for us concern here in Project BABYLON. Our Search and Rescue (SAR) teams are hard at work every day training for they future deployment at Laythe. Flying modified KV-2 Griffon (comissioned as Grif SAR) with range of 210km and with cruising speed 360km/h (100m/s) while flying around 500m above sea level. This VTOL SAR craft is very stable, yet capable of maneuvering and landing on tight spots.Equiped with powerful lights and emergency beacon location system it is capable to search for stranded ships and Kerbals night or day, shine or rain!

We leave no Kerbal behind!

If we're going for realism. I have an observation...

So clearly there is a potential threat to the colony, hence the presence of combat capable ships. Keeping the entire fleet around Laythe is, in my opinion, inefficient. It's also essentially waiting for the enemy at your doorstep. Not good tactics.

The majority of a hostile fleet entering the Joolian system, especially heavier ships with a low TWR, will burn for capture by Jool's influence, and burn mid-swing for a Laythe capture. This is where they would most vulnerable. At the speeds encountered during transfer a very slight change in trajectory, or interruption during a burn, would be enough to miss Laythe capture, launch them entirely out of the Joolian system, or bury them in Jool's atmosphere during aerobraking.

As the cruisers we have deployed are not highly maneuverable, I propose two small detachments of light interceptors with a high TWR capable of a "fly-by" be stationed opposite each other in Jool's orbit, possibly accompanied a small supply station with living quarters. They do not need to be heavily armed, nor do they need to outright destroy a heavy ship. They just need to be capable of knocking it off course or breaking a few parts off to destabilize it during aerobraking maneuvers. Anything that still manages to secure a Laythe intercept will be a little "softer" and traveling slow enough for the frigates with their high dollar smart missiles to cut off.

Intercepting craft at transfer orbit is extremly dV expensive ...

My internet connection is down I wont be propably able to upload save today - Im already landing stuff at laythe :-)

DCMS Ark Roayl deliverd the ComLink Array and DCMS Viking deliverd 2 SSTO shuttles for orbit/surface connection and 2 atmospheric figters/SSTO to provide secerity on surface. I´ve also landed VTOL colony ship, but landing was rough, I´ve broke of engines and during quicksave and quickload the solar panels broke of...

Here we go, new save is out!

DOWNLOAD

Features:

- base called "Babylon 1" on surface of Laythe

- 2 Swallow fighters parked next to base ready to flight

- DCMS Ark Royal in orbit of Laythe, low on fuel, without crew

- DCMS Viking in orbit of Laythe, crew of 2 packing SSTO Shuttles for Saphire orbital station

- MCLEC Essex in orbit of Laythe, fully armed but very low on fuel

- ComLink Array in orbit of Laythe

- Some new ships in orbit of Kerbin

- one surprise in Joolian system - find out what it is, bring pics and lets decide what we´re going to to about it!

What we need to do next?

- send some fuel to Laythe DCMS Viking and Ark Royal needs a lot of fuel for their way back to Kerbin and also MCLEC Essex needs fuel to become fully operational. Any volunteer to fly some tankers to Laythe?

- Bring in supplies! Both orbit and surface need some supplies and more ships. What should we bring in next delivery to Joolian system?

- Expand our surface operations! We have one base (slightly damaged) and 5 kerbals on surface... Do we need more?

- Get some fuel trucks on surface of Laythe to support our surface based operations! We also need few Grif SAR crafts to provide search and rescue capabilities to our ground teams. How are we gonna deliver those crafts?

Explore and enjoy!

Taco Industries would like to present its first contribution to Project BABYLON. This is a heavy duty, 1 kerbal drop pod utility, rated for landing in extreme conditions, and at velocities of up to 50 m/s. This vehicle has undergone rigorous testing on Kerbin, Laythe, Duna, Jool, and even Eve and performed perfectly in each situation. Each drop pod comes pre-equipped with a de-orbit stage, as well as full RCS and SAS capabilities. During reentry, the pod makes use of a heat shield, which both protects the pod and slows the descent safely before deploying the parachutes and landing gear. Below, you will find the .craft file and a gallery of its most recent test on Laythe.

Things I would like to do

- little bit remake of our space stations using the new awesome panoramatic cockpit.

- remake the Flea low gravity world lander using new 1 man lander can

- rovers for Laythe!

- RCS hovercrafts for low gravity moons of Jool!

sorry guys ut i'm 2 weeks behind ,i have a lot of stuff to do:

-Final Tests at middle school

-Only computer in my house broke so i went to an internet café and my dad has the only working laptop in the house at work.

To bad you PC broke. I have been busy to and have some stuff to do to morrow but I have figured out a good fuel tanker based on a Jumbo tank and a large RCS tank. Will require JATO and LKO refueling with a second smaller SSTO tough but that might be fun :P Will make a vid of it then for sure.

Normal mission takes about 3 days to fly and record and edit and with this extra workload I would say 4 days.
