What did you do in KSP1 today?

Figured out that Ike is the most boring, darkest moon in the entire solar system.

The permanent darkness there took me like 10 tries to actually land without exploding/losing parts that I need for returning.

Also devoloping a quite easy 2-part interplanetary ship that will get me anywhere, if I do it right.

(Alright it's basically the same design scott manley uses in his eeloo mission, but it will get me anywhere!)

Milly's flight.

Bit of a long post, but I had a very cool flight today, so I hope you'll bear with me.

After the efforts of Bob, Jeb, Bill, as well as Sidtrey, I had a fully-functional starfighter.

Milly took it for a trip around the Mun. This, like most trips to space, started on the end of a rocket.

First part of the trip: up to the Mun.

Unfortunately, I hit "0" while in time warp, and lost our lasers before we made it to our intended orbit. Oh well. This was only going to be a test fight.

The objective of the flight was to fly down one of the munar trenches as a rehearsal for.... something. This didn't go too badly, but was over before very long.

Flying in Very Low Mun Orbit is actually quite awesome.

For some reason the fairings on my atomic engine didn't decouple, but that just made things interesting.

Milly had a good time. Milly sounds like a girls name, and I'd like a little more variety in the kerbals I send to space, so I'm going to refer to this kerbal as 'she', as I saw somewhere that they're actually androgynous.

Because flying that trench meant I had to be in a highly inclined orbit, I was in a good position to try something. -A transfer from an inclined orbit. If I could pull this of, I could save a lot of Delta V with my Jool probe, going straight from one mapping orbit to another.

If I did save anything by doing this, that is.

But it definitely worked.

Minmus is always an awesome place to visit. Flying in VLMO is a different challenge, you're not going as fast, but the terrain is more varied.

But when I saw this, I knew where I was going to stop.

Beautiful. Popped down a flag, then it was of to visit one more site before returning home.

48 Km to the south, was a site I'd named "Cool views" because it had awesome scenery. We wanted to see the Kerbol-Kerbin-Mun alignment from there, and still had quite a bit of delta V left.

But we had some problems getting back on board.

Quick check with the space center, and we were on our way.

I'm getting quite good at landing this thing.

Cool views didn't disappoint. Planted another flag because the one we followed to get here seemed to have vanished.

Traveling via "The Minmus tumble" amused Milly greatly. She had to put a hand over her mouth to contain her laughter at one point.

Then it was time to go home. Milly had a friend's birthday to make.

This is always fun.UWr0oyn.jpg

Used up the RCS to complete the burn for Kerbin Aerobrake. I didn't have anything to dock with in the save, so decided to make the most of it.

TA9KBJO.png

Almost home, just a few more hours.

A daredevil this one.

Sadly, the deorbit burn fell way short.

The Dash-Wing starfighter fell into the drink. They don't like that.

Looks like Milly will be late to that party.

But any landing you can swim away from...

And that's what I did today. (Now yesterday.)

Hey guys!

First week in KSP! I mean WOW, how the hell haven't I discovered this game yet? So today I sent Jeb to the Mun and he ran out of fuel :( so I sent a rescue team to bring him back and got crashed into the surface because of the fuel ran out mid-air :(

Today's order of business was finishing up the process of setting up stations all about the Kerbin/Mun/Minmus system, as well as getting a fairly full Kethane scan of the two moons. Tomorrow's schedule: Kethane miners, fuel rigs, and fuel storage tanks for the stations. Should be fun.

Today and yesterday:

-Finally built a reliable lifter that can handle up to 67 tons. Designed for station building, but can be used for pretty much any mission's backbone.

-Built a 3-man OTV for general use in-orbit, with de-orbit capabilities, with corresponding lifter.

-Sent up a fuel and docking node, a "microstation" of sorts. Capable of holding 2 Kerbs, a KW medium RCS tank of RCS fuel, a stock orange tank full of fuel, 4 standard docking ports, 4 mini docking ports, and one large docking port, with a small KW SPS engine to propel it if need be. It's a general utility microstation.

-Docked 3 OTVs to the microstation.

-Sent up the core for the Deneb station. Docked one solar array to it, then realized that the improper design caused the KOSMOS Balka Solar Wings to block one of the vital CBMs to extend the station's structure. The panels were undocked and de-orbited and a new set designed to better fit the station. The station will remain unmanned until completion.

I brought my first kerbonaut into orbit! And I got him home safely, too. I designed a new rocket for the purpose, and unlike I usually do I didn't test it with remote control before I manned it...but it turned out alright, after all.

Today I discovered that Kerbals can control nearby components, not just fix rover wheels.

Following a particularly troublesome launch and orbital insertion of IPEV Excursion, Danbry inspects the rover's lighting systems as part of the post-launch damage assessment.

Followed by an inspection of the Mosquito bay, which will receive the rover drop-ship in a couple of days, courtesy IPEV Fearless as she departs for Duna.
