Launched a mobile rover to the Mun (I already have an unmanned orbiter/Kethane survey satellite, a manned orbital/refuel/Kethane refining station, and a manned/Kethane extraction base on the surface), but I noticed in map view that I ended up with a favorable Munshot to Minmus. I couldn't resist the window, so I accomplished my first trip to the smaller satellite of Kerbin. I haven't put the rover on the surface yet, as I'm concerned how my as-yet untested skycrane is going to perform, and I don't want to waste this opportunity just yet. At least I brought enough fuel to land without having to visit my Mun statoin, though.

My Kerbals were busy busy today. First they had a successful docking of a fuel tanker to their space station. Monumental this was as it was the crowning achievement of many hours, crashes, explosions, near misses and beautiful re-entry effects.

With this success the decided to embark on another previously aborted mission attempt: put a satellite around another planet! Duna was the destination and after a number of re-workings to the launch vehicle we had success! Not an ounce of fuel left and needing to use RCS to put the final tweaks on the orbit around Duna my Kerbals breathed a sigh of relief and enjoyed the view of Duna.

Last, but certainly not least, my Kerbals decided it was time to build a rover and have Jeb do some trial runs on Kerbin.

Time for some R&R for my Kerbals before they build some kind of crazy launch vehicle to get their new rover to the Mun....and beyond!

Finally bootstrapped KSC Minmus into some operational capacity.

Second rocketparts tank, the first got ( well I attempted to ) recycled because I nerfed all the inherent storage of the default EL parts & didn't have enough to build a big tank. Next will be a crane, then a couple of static tanks to keep parts down, and after that it's Pad B, which will be 2.5km away & just have static part storage ( or I'll make a giant crawler which plugs in. Unnecessary part count again though ). Hopefully I can build large things there without fps totally dying, because just this part is already bringing the clock into yellow...

Need a better way of transporting Ore too.

Accidents seem to be hindering construction of my planned grand tour. I enabled permadeath when I started and today lost my first 2 kerbals. Scott and Kurt were going to pilot a lander up to the Pegasus and were killed on launch, despite my attempts to abort. Doubly unfortunate as both were on my planned 8 man crew for the mission. Still construction continues.

Nothing too fancy, just put some Kerbals into orbit, accidentally went way too hot when burning at apoapsis and put them into a Munar trajectory >.> but my rocket meant to achieve orbit was overbuilt, and the last stage had enough fuel/delta v after swinging around Mun to break them out and send them home to Kerbin lol.

The Kerbin Space Program has today launch the first of three high-gain, direction finding and communications relay satellites into orbit today. The program commenced after an embarrassing incident with the botched mission of Jebediah's Manhood to Jool. After receiving grainy, distorted video of Jebediah and Mac Kermin landing on what mission control thought was the Jool moon Laythe, mission control specialists spent over an hour adjusting the contrast of their rebroadcast to reduce the 'red wash' which had come over the video. It was only later discovered that the Manhood had not in fact encountered Laythe, but Duna. This was, of course, already known among Kerbin society as even amateur astronomers (and some kerbals with their naked eyes) managed to encounter the 100-fold increase in intensity from Duna the previous evening, which was today confirmed as a 3 kilometer-per-second decelaration maneuver of the 500-ton Manhood.

I visited the Armstrong Memorial.

I didn't know I was visiting it at first; I only knew there was an anomaly there. I lost a wheel in the process, but I'm planning on landing a base there so there'll be an astronaut along to fix it eventually. I also put a new rover on Duna, but I got a bit overzealous with the throttle and the probe core was destroyed. In all other respects the rover was fine.

Made some new parts, as in actually made some 3d models and imported them through Unity using the KSP PartTools into the game with colliders and their own part.cfgs

No textures yet, but still pleased with getting the production flow working and being able to see the parts in-game

Launched a spy satellite for a challenge. I am currently winning by my reckoning, so that's something.

Decided to pick up the Munar Gemini challenge - that gives me three challenges in progress, so I'd better hurry up and finish the Duna one.

In preparation for my Duna Refuel mission, I needed to practice my long-range maneuvering skills. To Minmus!

I docked at my low-orbit station, switched out Newsey Kerman who'd been there for two years, and I decided to bring him along as repayment. He was so sick of being stuck in a ship that upon entering Minmus orbit, he jumped out and landed on his own. Gilfry took the lander down after and they posed for some shots:

Was then able to return using Mun as both an arresting slingshot and inclination correction, feeling very confident about this refuel operation now.

I landed a one-man lander on the south pole of Moho (and returned it to Kerbin). Actually, it was about 88° S. Eh, close enough.

The mission profile was interesting: I aimed for a polar orbit around Moho to avoid as many plane changes as possible. The south pole landing site was chosen because it allowed me to launch back to the interplanetary stage in orbit at any time without huge plane changes, plus it's easier to land at the south pole than the north pole. Once it was time to return, I launched, docked with the interplanetary stage, transferred fuel, and dumped most of the lander in Moho orbit to save mass for the return trip. At this point, to align my trajectory for the return, I need to do an orbital plane change. To do this, I burned until my apoapsis was just inside Moho's SOI. The plane change was done at apoapsis, which was incredibly cheap. After that, there was just the nerve-wracking final transfer burn back to Kerbin (I wasn't sure I'd have enough fuel).

All told, the mission was about 110 days, 50 of which were waiting for the transfer window back to Kerbin. Jeb went a little stir-crazy.

Decided to get back to some old flights on my main save, got my rover to Moho and deployed a Kethane satellite. I then switched over to my Duna mission, landed the rovers manually, then manually landed a three Kerbal lander within 2km of the rovers, which made me quite happy. I probably could have brought it even closer if I'd been paying attention to the speed during the initial "hope my parachutes don't rip off" retro burn.

Anlin Kerman here is now Missing In Action because he went back for the second rover (the carousel and rovers were pretty poorly designed, I've since refined them) and simply disappeared from the game along with the rover he was attempting to flip over.

i got a spaceplane in a pretty circular orbit, then tried Ferram's system, didn't like it (there are people who'd love all these numbers). then tried some more spaceplanes, got some small ships to dock with them...

I'm relatively new to the game, so I doubt I'm breaking any new ground here. The past few days, I've been motivated by the Kethane. After installing the mod, I sent a probe to the Mun to map the surface, then built a combination probe and rover lander to accomplish two goals with one trip: get a satellite in orbit to map Minmus, then put wheels on the ground with a rover. The goal was to see just how much effort is needed to launch from Minus and to see how the gravity affected rover navigation. It was more successful than I had hoped; I managed to land the satellite, drop off the rover and get it back into a scanning orbit using only RCS thrusters. The rover is stable, providing good readings of the light gravity. I'll drive it around later.

Next I installed a small Kethane tank and three drills onto a three-kerbin lander and shipped it off to the Mun. The purpose of the mission was to see get my feet with with the Kethane mining tools. The mission was successful, although they did need to call mom for a ride home (didn't account for how heavy the Kethane tank would be when full!) I left the lander where it was, as I'll be back and will collect the Kethane eventually. Here's a photo of the crew doing their work:

I'm still very new to the game, but am learning. My goal is to put up a small Mun base capable of mining and refining Kethane. I've already got a site picked out; just need to figure out how the conversion/refining process works. Is it true that it's more cost-effective to run a Kethane operation on Minmus due to the fact that it's less delta-v to get the refined stuff back into orbit?

I crashed repeatedly and swore a lot. Other then that? Mostly tried making VTOL space planes using SM Ducted Fan VTOL engines. Thinking of ditching that idea soon, honestly. I can never tell which way the fan goes, and I rarely get anywhere with them. Either my planes are too heavy or I always put them on upside-down.

May just use IR and make a more effective VTOL by using Pulse Detonation engines. Or maybe just use SABER engines for the hell of it. They always seem useful.

I plan on setting up a space station some day soon, but unless the game stops crashing so much, I know it's a pipe dream.

I'll at least be getting a new computer today, so maybe it'll work much better.

Despite my original plan of sending one colony ship loaded up with everything, I decided that, to make best use of the transfer window (I try to be efficient, even with the massive power Orion provides), I'd send three. The original freighter, now named UKAF Hercules is carrying the surface habitation block and airship, Another freighter, UKAF Atlas, has a landing platform on board. They are both escorted by UKAF Odysseus, a carrier whose bays are stocked with autonomous missile deployment vehicles.

Early this morning whilst attempting to re install steam after problems downloading rome 2, I managed to delete all of my steam games. All of them. All saves and everything.

All my sub assemblies. All my saved craft. All.

THE PAIN. Does it ever go away?
