Still need to know what mods you're using with it.

You need to realize that Freyja has no custom plugins, code anything, its simply a part - so when you get these sorts of errors, outside of an export error that everyone would experience, its going to be caused by a conflict with something else.

Not saying there isn't anything I could do to adjust things, but I'd need to know what else you're running to have a clue where to look. Turn off all the mods, then turn them on one by one and you'll discover what causes it. Start a new saved game if you need to.

I found it was EPL just like in the earlier case. I unplugged it just fired it up and ... problem gone. Just did it now. what I wish I could figure out what it was in EPL though .. i like both!! want my cake and to eat it too! :-P

by the way .. you mention turning off mods .. other than pulling the mod i have NO idea what you are talking about .. is there a way to just set them off one by one??

Well depends on if you're using a mod manager or not - if not then just pull the folder out - thats why you'd need the new save so it wont wipe out ships using parts from the other mods.

Something about EPL really messed with pods and their attachment logic - not sure what it is.

Well the plan is to do it like Freyja, I'll add the 2 engines via MODEL node and add the engine module to the config.

I could do it via nodes, but it isn't really intended to just stick any engine on there, since there is a specifically sized 2.5m fairing piece that will cover the whole service module and engines while on the rocket stack (and later a bigger one to package it up with new Thor) - if there are various engine sizes used, then the fairing will be ill-fitting like the current 3.125m set.

I use module manager but how do you shut the mods down with that? (i'm a newb by comparison to most in here) I like how the model is coming out it looks really nice

So the new Odin will be a sorta-Orion-alike thingy? As much as I love the current Odin, this is just awesome. I'll probably end up renaming the old Odin files so I can use both at once.

I mentioned a while back that I'd ponder a lighter colored Odin as well. So I did. Might go back and change some of the other colors on the panels too, but it looks pretty good.

I also recessed the panels on the service module Deep enough?

Yeah I'll probably provide them both, its really only an extra config and 2 texture files.

After working on the Odin pod, I decided I needed to take another swing at Freyja's pod - I made the pod mesh itself quite a long time ago and its lacking.

So, here's the new version. I'm gonna add the flag decal to it like I will Odin to display your mission flag, which is why the meatball flag is missing.

Wow. That's much better! Not that I don't like the current look, but the new one is just better. Oh, and there seems to be some kind of shading bug with the Freyja heat shield: if let's say you're in orbit and point the heat shield towards the sun, it'll look normal. If you start rolling the Freyja, though, the heat shield will become almost completely black, before becoming normal again when it has rolled all the way around.

I'd have to look back a few pages, but I think someone else reported it, and it was related to one of the environment mods? Maybe not. Screenshots would help.

Got back to work on Odin while the forums were done. It's now in game (both variants) and I finished another part too.

Now I just need to decide how to do fairings - which also means I need to decide on launch config. I'll do a small fairing that just covers Odin + Service Module, and a small adapter plate/decoupler just for the pod. Then I need one for Odin+Orbital module, which leaves 2 choices:

Soyuz-style with Orb Modules on top - 2.m5 fairing over all of it with a blast shield + Escape Tower to cap it off. This makes the pod be inside the fairing completely, so no view from IVA during launch.

Apollo-style with the Orb Module below the service module - Odin would then undock in orbit, flip around and redock, then remove the Module from the spent stage in the manner of the LEM. This is actually how some diagrams of the PTK-Z were shown to work (can't find the image anymore.)

I'll definitely be making a similar fairing to the second option for Odin+Thor, so it may be simpler and easier to use to make a variant of that.

That looks so swell. Absolutely awesome. Oh, and regarding the launch of Odin + OrbMod, I actually like both of the proposed methods. Method 1 wouldn't require redocking on orbit, and it does sound quite cool to have a Soyuz/Orion hybrid. However, Method 2 also sounds quite nice and fun.

What I came here to say: I'm sad. I never get to use the large rocket parts from this mod. Why? My payloads are too small :(. So I''ll probably have to reduce the thrust of the large LRB to 3000, as that's closer to 2 bearcats. Or just make an amazingly huge all-in-one-launch Moho mission Apollo style without nukers. You know, that's actually a great idea.

Nice shots!

That OrbMod resembles Shenzhou more than Soyuz (Chinese OrbMods is capable of autonomous flight). The only thing it lacks is some form of propulsion (these docking rings - are they interchangeable with Odin\Freyja rings?).

I think that both options should be present - Soyz-style for orbital module, Apollo-style for Odin\Thor.

Really like the new Odin model and textures. I agree with wasmic on having both proposed methods for Odin and for Huginn (name of one of Odin's two ravens) module as options. Of course provided that isn't too time consuming or work for you. Thanks.
