[1.0.2] NovaPunch 2.09. - May 6th - 1.0 Compatibility Update

Lander legs don't seem to work in .23. I've tried all the variants that come with the Thor lander module.

Do you mean that the tweakable status in the VAB doesn't work? This is because they are "legacy" legs and don't use the new module. The newer Thor legs should be able to be upgraded, I doubt the others will. If you mean that they actually don't animate or collide with the ground, I need more information because they work here.

Hey I've noticed that these parts don't seem to collide correctly with the ground (with one occasion where one fell through the ground)

Indeed. Weird that no one (myself included) has never noticed this. It seems to be the short and medium tanks for the 2.5, 3.75, and 5m diameters. If you find any other parts missing collision, let me know.

Starting to get a bit of a buglist going for the next version :)

Alright, here's a small zipfile with the 2 config file fixes for the VAB icon issue. Just copy/paste the NovaPunch2 folder in the zip over the one in the GameData folder and it should over-write the old ones.

Sorry that there wasn't time for anything of more substance, but there will be cool things coming in the new year. I hope you all have/had a Merry Christmas, or at least enjoyed your December the 25th :)

Just had an error pop up using Novapunch and that gave me a CTD. I have been methodically going back to my previous mods after .23 nerfed a bunch of things and I haven't had any problems before trying to get the Odin Thor launcher running on missions to the Mun and Minimus again.

Anyway here is the error log that showed up. Not sure how much good it will do but it might help run down an error for more than just me.

That's the wrong file, AFAIK. Can you give us the file that's located in the crash folder?

Sorry about that....here are the correct files for that problem.

I will toss one last one in here as well since I just started a new career mode thinking that was the problem since I added in the Nova Punch series well into my career last time. Still get a CTD when I select a new rocket that I build from scratch and try to load back into the VAB now to work on the ship.

You are getting a "System out of Memory Error" in that last one at least - that means KSP is no longer able to grab any more RAM to load more textures for parts or whatever. I noticed in earlier logs that you have a lot of other mods installed. If you can unload any mods that arent a part of the rocket you are using, it could free up some memory.

Also, you might try this mod: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/59005-0-22-Release-1-Active-Memory-Reduction-Mod it will reduce the amount of memory used by textures "on the fly" and hopefully stop the crashes. Otherwise you might need to install texture redux packs or use less mods.

KSP is crashing for me during loading, just as the progress bar reaches the end. It loads fine with NP removed, but crashes when I put NP back in. Here's the contents of the crash folder, any idea what the problem is?

Yep, same as above.

Near the bottom of your output log: d3d: failed to create vertex buffer of size 2214816 [out of memory]

Which means KSP is unable to grab more memory. You can use the texture reduction packs, or the plugin I linked above, or uninstall some mods and/or move them to a 2nd KSP installation.

Speaking of which, it would be nice to be able to pick which parts we want at install time with some kind of UI. Maybe being able to choose part categories such as tanks, fairings, fuselages, engines.. ? That's a general suggestion (not just for NP) but since NP is one of the biggest part mods.. That would apply to B9 and KW too. For instance i use procedural fairings and tanks, so i dont need those parts from the mod packs.

I agree with what he said. There are others that aren't particularly great, but NP seems to be really full of bloat.

Its a parts pack, its supposed to have a wide variety of parts. That's the point.

The parts are broken down by category in subfolders. So you can go in there and delete the categories you don't like. That is as advanced as I can make it without requiring a different download file per operating system. Also: could not and do not want to create an installer.

As for the original question: Yes you can delete parts, with only two things to remember:

The included .craft files would fail to load

Some folders have more than one part in it - resizes of the same model to different diameters. (decouplers, reaction wheels and such.) So check the folder you are deleting for more than one .cfg file if you're just trying ot get rid of one specific size.

Also future parts may pull model files from other folders, but I'll try to keep them in one folder if possible.

Hi Tiberion,

Its a parts pack, its supposed to have a wide variety of parts. That's the point.

True that and i appreciate the wide choice, just i dont need everything as i have duplicates of various parts that just clutter the VAB as of now (and take up RAM, which for the moment leads to various problems). I dont use your mod alone but also B9, various other mods and lately i have been trying KW which has a lot of duplicate parts (tanks mostly).

Also: could not and do not want to create an installer.

I am certainly not talking about an OS installer, but something in game, maybe at load screen, to pick whatever we really want to load or not. Just throwing ideas, someone who reads this topic and has the skills can take it up from there (as i said the idea was not targeted specifically to you Tiberion - it's a general problem in KSP).

Yes that would be neat. Also for KSP in general we need a better integrated mod management maybe, or an UI ingame that helps us select only the parts we want to load and use in VAB/SPH (and unload the rest from memory). I now have too many parts and i use maybe 20% of them all and that's a lot already.

Sorry for the slight off topic, if others feel this is not entirely stupid we might create a thread in the appropriate forum (just posted this in NP as it's one of the most popular part mods, and the one i use the most)
