Can't right click docking port- is this a bug?

Recommended Posts

How close are you supposed to be before you can use the 'right click docking port to set as target' function? I'm trying to figure out if this is a bug caused by a plugin going haywire or if I'm just too far away...

You need to get close enough to sort of visually see it or its general placement, which is usually less than 100m and sometimes closer to 50.

I usually put a a ring of z100 batteries around the docking port, so that the green lights show up from a distance. A low level headlight could also work.

I have always been able to right-click on a docking port from almost too far away to actually see it, though that's only to select one on a ship I've already targeted, because I always target the ship itself from a distance on map view.

Can you select individual ports vanamonde? If you can I'd love to see pics.

Works for me too. I usually dock without RCS by using Smart A.S.S. to point each vessel at the other's docking port. HoY described this method in a video he made using 0.19:

Great, it's just me then, I can click the ports but the target defaults to the root, so I cannot get accurate docking info unless the root happens to be the port.

I get proper targetting, but the distance is still incorrect (which [FLUFFY BUNNIES] me off to no end).

I swear I do not think the devs have ever tried docking, or piloting without a joystick for that matter.

After a bit of testing I can confirm. a) The distance is approx. >200M before you can select the port. B) The navball calculates the target correctly. c) The on-screen goes for the center of mass of the target, or the center of mass of the last connected segment in a station, for some reason. Yeah, it's stumped me too.
