On how to place 2 LV-N's next to each other on an adapter without their decoupler shrouds destroying them when staged . I remember seeing it stickied a few months ago (possibly before the Crash of April).

This is easy, you need to rotate the LV-N's with Q or E (and shift) so the seams between the fairings face outwards.

You can fit triple or quad LV-N's this way and have no trouble, the fairings will hit each other and not your engines :)

Hey Sal, could you provide some pics/test rig .crafts/subbasemblys using this technique? I can't seem to get it for more than 2 LV-N's

Give me a few minutes and I'll have screenshots for you.

Edit: Here you go.

With tri-coupler I rotated the engines 90° so that the seams are facing outward.

With quad-coupler I rotated the engines 45° so that again the seams are facing outward.

No, make the shrouds not appear in the first place.

Edit the configuration file for the LV-N; look for the parameter "isFairing" and set it equal to "False" (capitalization counts). Backup your save games before you do this in case this doesn't work; I've been searching for this on the forums, couldn't find it (which sucks, because this is one of those questions that comes up every week or so) and am going off of memory here.

Only other choice is to not stick anything beneath them, as Johnno said. My original Thunderbolt 7 and Thunderbolt Heavy 7 tugs had five LV-N engines, and there was no way I was editing the configuration files; ultimately I had to launch them upside down, which was a pain but worked...

Im afraid editing the config files alone would not be enough to remove the fairings. In order to remove the fairings entirely, you would have to somehow obtain the raw asset of the engine, and remove the fairing gameobject and all its children. Other then that, I don't know how to do this.
