Nice ones WooDzor!

can I see the rest of your Duna constellation mission? Ive only seen a few so far.

Thanks! It's all still WIP since .23. Currently I have;

-the Copernicus (the massive crew transport Elo capable btw)

-the Science lander similarly shaped as the hab lander on the image

-the Hab. lander with return vehicle. This is the one I generally use for a quick mission to Duna.

To complete a proper mission I still want an additional lander with a proper command-potted 2 manned rover to move some useless gadgets around like a solar farm and some larger scientific equipment. I would love to add a atmospherical drone to it too but I am not quite sure if I can squeeze it in. To complete this mission will take a while longer I am afraid.

really good crafts in here. but why nobody has science there? on every lander i have a science jr. it's difficult to build it in in a lander but worth the try.

my newest duna lander. i was able to get back to orbit, redock with my interplanetary stage, refuel, undock, travel to ike, land, return, redock in duna orbit and went home! 4000 science because my interplanetary stage have a mobile lab with bill and bob in it.

all stock with 2x LV-909 next to the science jr.

That's some good progress then!

I ask as I'm about 90% complete on my stock constellation mission.

I was also thinking about a little atmos drone as you need cool things

To do when you get there. But like you I'm concerned about space for

All the bits. I used the 3.75m parts for the two landers which helps with space

But it still feels tight! And doing it stock is quite tricky.

Keep up the good work mate an post some more pics if you want.

Yeah, I tend to use landers mostly for science. I got ONE working with a science Jr. but it was ugly as crud and I gave up on it.

  • 6 months later...

My first Mün mission, Müna I, arriving at the space station Worst Except For The Others on the nose of the tug Huey, and then headed toward Mün on the nose of Dewey, the space station/Mün transfer vessel.

See, what happened there was that there wasn't enough fuel for the descent, but Bill at least got out in time to bounce to safety.

Coming up: rescuing Bill!

To overcome those not-insubstantial flaws, I designed the Kegel! This is Kegel I. I rescued Bill!

Kegel II is balanced a little bit better, is a little lighter, and doesn't carry the now-unnecessary descent stage. It docks the other way 'round on Dewey, so it can use five engines (four as a tractor, two as pushers) and not leave any unburning. I was carrying around six engines before and only using four. Now I'm carrying five and using all of them! Duh!

So, now I can reliably land on the Mün! Next thing to do there is build a base! I'm working on some VTOL lifters to bring down hab modules.

Is there another lander thread somewhere? I can post over there instead.

I haven't left Kerbin's LKO in a month. I was busy working on my shuttle program. Decided to throw together a lander with a medium sized rover last night. Went to the Mun for a photo op and then returned to Kerbin orbit to dock with Space Station One. SS Hellblazer will be up in a couple days to refuel lander and switch out crew.

What kinda engine clipping do you have going on there? It actually looks kinda like my jet engine mod part :D

With those types of jets it would be nice if they made some that could suck in air and make your intakes fill more if used correctly. Then you could maximize air intake during flights.
