The Hell Kraken

I think that Kraken attacks have been increasing lately and I blame all those who use Universe Replacer. See, the stock background graphics have that bright band of light along the ecliptic. Some agnostics say this is just the galactic disk seen edge-on, but it's really the Sacred Strut put there during Creation to hold the heavens together. Removing it weakens the structure of Reality, allowing the Kraken to get in. :D

I once had a similar thing happen. When I landed 20 kerbals on the moon, I got them out to take a picture. Around the 15th one, the screen suddenly turned black and the altimeter went berserk (it did not remain at a constant altitude, though). That, unfortunately, permanently ruined that file. I believe my case has been around for a while as it was observed by Danny2462 in version 0.17

It's an old species, but in the old times, it was very rare.

Story:

Once I needed to dive jebidiah back to the launch pad, he was near the space center. I built a rescue car, drove over him (yes, I'm an extreme driver) and he spazzed out. My screen turned black, the altitude is 666 666 and the rescue car got ripped into pieces and shot to sun escape velocity.

This is one of the two oddest krakens. The other one is the Jool kraken...

That was just Jeb getting revenge for you running him over.

Encountered a new breed of Kraken that hasn't been said here. I build a space plain and added delta V wings at so many angles. I took off did a barrel roll and fell to 700 meters. My highest point was 900 meters. this is where it gets strange. I eject my parachutes and glide down. at about 20m above ground i eject jebidiah(as customary as he is badass) and he lands safely. A second later the plane hits Jeb and he goes flying 20000 meters into the air and crashes into the water on the other side of the content. And the only bit that hit jeb was a tiny tip of the wing that shouldn't have moved him more then 5m........ so WTF?

Im calling it the Velocity Kraken

Hmmm... I see a couple people that should run SuperPI to make sure their CPU isn't unstable. I've launched probably 2000 missions or more and I've yet to encounter the Kraken. I can't trigger it no matter how much I mess with Jool, Kerbol or the Mystery Boulder...

I only managed to make some +500 part space stations dance by using too many flimsy docking ports and non-physical structure parts. But that's really asking for it.

Try using hyperedit like Danny did in the intro of MAIKSP7. (Messing Around in Kerbal Space Program 7)

I've only just encountered the Hell Kraken. Still running .23 and Jeb parachuted into the deep bowl-shaped formation that one of the northern monoliths is hidden in. Landed fine inside the cockpit. He hopped out, took a few steps on reasonably steep ground, then put a foot through the ground, he goes puff, the camera suddenly drops towards Kerbin's core, there's a flash of the blue sphere that stands in for the planet sometimes, with the altimeter going to 666,666m. Then the screen went black, altimeter goes to 777,777m and the game locked up. Couldn't get back to the space center or anything.

Forced the game to quit and upon restarting, there was debris at the landing site but Jeb was dead. Only time that's happened though.

I've had a lot of crashes frequently as well, but I think that's because Remotetech2 is so buggy/unstable and perhaps not playing nicely with SCANSat or IR.

Something similar happened, where I walked a Kerbal into the runway, where he vanished and the camera shot off into space, with the almost heaven-like music playing. I imagine he died and went to booster heaven.

Just 20 minutes ago, I had a kerbal on EVA on the Mun, he hit the ground too hard and went into ragdoll mode, and when he was getting up, the screen went black, and numbers were rolling on the altitude bar. It stopped at 666,666 and when I came back from restarting, ALL of my ships were gone. I actually saw this on one of Robbaz's videos yesterday.

Well, I got the same thing as you, OP. This bug is associated with Kerbals on the surface of anything. Once, I was playing around with a mod, I was aerobreaking through the atmosphere. I quicksaved, reloaded the game where i was in the atmosphere of the gas giant. The black sceeen and rotating numbers came up. The map view was extremely laggy and everything was gone. Then I went to the space center. It said I was leaving the gas giant's SOI with an altitude of -18,000,000 and a velocity of 200m/sec

I got it in 1.2.2, though it switched between 666,666 and 111,111.

Are you sure that replying to a topic that has been dead for more than 2 years is not necroposting?

I am sure it isn't if the subject is still relevant, which I believe this one is.
