Well, besides the needless insult to the SQUAD texture artists...

Don't just throw accusations around like that. Learn to distinguish between personal attacks and criticisms. One of them is reasonable. Most stock part textures look really bad. I mean really amateurish. I don't care if it hurts anyone's feelings; it's the truth, it's also NOT a value judgement of the texture artist. Maybe they had to hurry. That's fine. I don't care; it's not relevant to the observation.

I see what you mean. A personal attack would be calling the texture artist a moron because the textures aren't good, I assume

Its hard to put it in words. KSP-look is fairly realistic and detailed, but slightly stylized and simplified with exeggerated proportions like an animated movie. Theres details like dirt and scratches and some shading on the parts, but kept quite simple. Colors are mostly greys, not any color tint, some orange, some yellow and a few little exeptions to that scheme. Proportions are slightly dumpy, e.g. engine bells are often a bit shorter and wider than in reality. All the textures are hand-painted and diliberately look like they were. No photographic texture elements are used with very few exceptions.

B9 uses completely flat colors, the outsides of the parts are almost exclusively in that middle grey. Many parts are decorated with those white stripes. There are painted scratches on the parts but they are kept simple. Interiors and end-pieces are more colorful like yellow/orange and light blue in the big cargobays. Concave bits mostly have some ambient shadowing that looks like it was computer-generated.

edit: sry stupid_chris you ninja'd me. But well since this is a thread about stockalike parts I guess this isnt too far off opic.

We're talking about rocket parts, not C7 aerospace parts. C7 parts are crap, and Chad admits this. The Rockomax, LV-T, and Probodobodyne, etc parts all look great. A good art style that fits the game.
