I still think this mod doesn't get the love it deserves to get.

It sure does. Have you seen how many people that are using it actively? Take a look at the Spacecraft Exchange Station Megathread. It pops up in every secon station or so. There's just not a whole lot to discuss about this mod, so people don't come here very often.

Well I'm glad it got bumped, that parachute/clamp-o-tron combo is just what the doctor ordered for Duna series landers, not to mention that the heat shield looks nicer than the old Rockomax adapter I had been using to cap off the service tube on my heavy science return capsule. And of course the whole thing is just such a neat package, perfect for a simple crew return vehicle. I for one will definitely be getting a lot of use out of it, now I just wish I had some round solar panels like in the old Ceres MPCV mod.

Check out Yogui's Lionhead Aerospace thread. Scroll past the first few addons, and BAM! there's a pack with circular solar panels in 3 sizes.

First of all I must say I love the parts! Very nice and sleek! I'm using them quite a bit. I have 2 questions though.

Firstly, this real parachutes mod is a bit much for me, but I love the idea of being able to have both a docking port and a parachute on the top of my command module. Is it possible to have stock parachutes work with a docking port?

Secondly, there are some decouplers that your guide claimed that the staging was disabled and they require action groups. How can I re-enable staging for these parts. I noticed I had problems staging with some of the decouplers.

First, No. Dockingport with Parachute only works with RealChute. That's why it is a requirement. Why is RealChute too much for you ?

Second, those who have staging disabled have to be activated via action groups. That is really easy although sometimes frustrating if you forget to set up the Action Group before Launch.

1: RealChute is really a great plugin - if you try it, and still don't like it, you can delete the parts that come with RealChute. Assuming that you do not install the Squad modulemanager cfg, the stock chutes will remain the same.

2: In the .cfg's of the Service Module and the Avionics Ring, find the decoupler module. It should look like this:

	MODULE
{
name = ModuleDecouple
ejectionForce = 200
explosiveNodeID = top
staged = false
}

Change the line

staged = false

to

staged = true

That should fix it for you.

I got home and did everything you said and it worked! I guess I will go ahead and try realchutes with this mod until I get more comfortable with them. Is there anything I should know if I am to use Realchutes?

Thankyou for your help!

MechJeb doesn't recognize them yet. At least I don't think it does....

As to craft idea's... I can get a pic if you want, but I made a science lab "truck" after getting rover wheels in the tree. Use the SDHI service module as normal, but stick the lab on the bottom. I used 2 wheels on the front and three on the back.

After I was bored collecting biome samples and processing results, I parked on a hill pointing up. Stage the engine and decouplers all in the same group, then follow launch procedure and away you go. Works great on minmus. I haven't tried the Mun, but the Engineer numbers say it should work.

New version of Real Chutes has broken your parachute equipped docking port.

-- edit: Wait, don't mind me. I apparently tried to install it blindfolded and without using my hands. Who knew that that wouldn't work?

I am almost literally as dumb as a pile of bricks.
