A research all button for the tech tree (not what you think)

Recommended Posts

ok who here has ever been faced with the time that is enveloped with having to research mod parts located in sections of the tech tree that are already unlocked which takes so long due to the massive parts packs put in to the most popular mods. so basically my idea is to end this madness and just add a button that allows you to research all the parts within a tech tree section that are still locked.

Before I go on...please, PLEASE, use grammar. It's not that hard to do and it'll make it that much easier for other people to understand what you're saying.

Now...

This seems like a purely mods issue to me. I get there are people who can't (or maybe "won't" is a more accurate word) play without using them, but it's kinda their fault if it turns grindy because they need to unlock the thousand different parts that they chose to add to the game.

i know but come on has anyone ever had that issue of spending an hour of clicking research part after downloading NovaPunch, B9, LLL, and/or KW rocketry after they start working for career. This is just meant for just until actual funds are used so as to eliminate the hassle involved from aggressively clicking research part over and over again.

and also sorry about my grammer but i am just saying this would be helpful for many

Please be considerate of others.

Not everyone here speaks English as their first language.

There are young kids on the forums.

Some of us did not graduate from Cambridge with a minor in English.

Also, follow your own advice. The proper way to say it is "use proper grammar" not "use grammar". You just asked him to use any form of grammar, not necessarily the formal form of proper English.

I agree button clicking is mad annoying. You could edit your save file, it may be easier...

YEA! I helped...

Again, this is purely a mods issue and be can be solved by simply uninstalling a couple. You wanted More, and you're getting your More. If you can't handle how much More you're getting, I recommend getting rid of some of your More.

Or just play sandbox mode? Squad probably won't put a button up to unlock parts for mods just for 1 or 2 patches. I think you are out of luck on this one.

ok but how about just a refresh button for the research branches for future updates which can also be used for this stuff with mods?

When money is an object, I assume this will not be purely a mods issue. Maybe when it affects your game you'll wish it was there.

Anything that removes clicks from anywhere is appreciated.

I don't think the developpers should spend some time to to something that doesn't happen in stock game and that will become obsolete as soon as money is implemented (should be soon).

From what it looks like, once you unlock the tech tree node, you will have to prototype the part once (unlockCost) to then be able to buy a lot of them in the VAB. So that means you will have to click every single part in the tech tree once to prototype them before using them in the VAB. Mod parts included. Making a "refresh" button now will just waste time because they'll have to remove it not too long after.

So what's your point? Seriously, so what???

He wants to ask Squad for an unlock button that will take five minutes to code and compile and you're going to argue against it? Are you going to have trouble sleeping at nights if he gets the button? I don't get it... what's your real objection?

Edit: And people, deriding his idea as stupid is one step away from being an ad hominem attack. If you disagree, fine, present reasons why or otherwise contribute meaningfully.

I also don't buy that this is a mod only issue because it would be valid anytime Squad releases new parts not present in already researched areas OR if Squad makes future changes requiring one to to unlock anything in the tree after researching it.

well ain't you little piece of work. maybe you should get less of an attitude since you seem to have fully embraced the idea of More in that respect.

Found a persistence file fix back it up, delete all the Tech{} parts in the SCENARIO{} and increase your "sci" in SCENARIO to match your total, research and development mod can tell you how much science you've gathered in total, make it that number, re-start KSP and you have none of the tech nodes unlocked but you have that science value to re-unlock them and you get all parts in them as normal.

It's a bit clunky and manual but it works and it's faster than clicking a million times and scrolling half as many times.

Just refreshed my item database and all parts in all nodes including stock ones became un-researched, It'll take me ages to click through them all, we need a better solution.

i know this was two weeks ago but this post IS what i am asking

i know about that, i figured that out after figuring out how to add free science so that i wouldn't have to start a new save for updates but it still requires lots of clicking although it is less clicking but my computer lags even more than if i didn't do this

Perhaps the devs could change the way parts are unlocked, making the game check each time you look at parts or the tech tree, rather than editing your save file after you click them. Another cool thing would be if one or more of those parts packs came with a script that would automatically fix your unlocks, including from other mod packs.

And lastly, you can always start a new career mode and unlock them bit by bit. I must admit though, it was annoying having to go and click on the parts for both of my sandbox saves. It's sandbox, come on, I shouldn't have to unlock parts...

Its also a lazyness issue. The point of the game is to have fun, try to get some fun! Ive wasted hours on this game, I couldnt complain about 4 minutes more..

I'm not sure how you define "fun", but clicking on a node, researching each part on the node individually, the clicking on the next one... for 100 parts isn't it.

Normally I am against necroposting but in this case I am glad you did. I have never notived both this and the thread you linked. I totally agree with the OP and have been frustrated about it ever since science was introduced. Very happy a mod has fixed it.
