A thrust button, for landing.

The idea is to have a thrust button that ramps up engine thrust to full power, until the player lets up at which point the engines immediately cut out.

id prefer an auto throttle that maintains your speed, so if you are landing at 2m/s it stays at that speed until you touchdown.

I have an unreleased mod that does something like this: While you hold it, your throttle jumps to 100%. Once you release it, it goes back to what it was at. You can hit X to zero your throttle. I'll release it tonight if I have time.

this would be cool. a button, like X, to accelerate to 100% instantly. why dont we have such a thing stock?

I've included this feature in my hardware build which was easy once I figured how to do it. Have a look at Telemachus which has a remote control option that lets you press a 100% button or a 0% button and various values in between.

I can highly recommend this app because you can even put it onto a tablet or phone that has a web page access. I use it on my iPad.

There's a mod on spaceport which ramps your throttle up to 100% with Z I think... I'll see if I can find it.

I wish there was a mod that gave you finer throttle controls. When flying my planes in the thin upper atmosphere of kerbin i have to fuble around with alot of flameouts to get the throttle just right!

I got noticed!

But yes, this is exactly what I wrote the Vertical Velocity Mod, to give you that fine control on landing to control your speed in tiny increments.

I'm setting up to release the next version this weekend actually, I'm adding the "fly to altitude and hold" functionality so landing sky-cranes should be even more straightforward.
