Kerbals dont die in career?

What gives?

I just had my first "accident" with a non-orange kerbal... and I thought he would be gone/dead..

A few missions later I check the astronaut complex - and there he is, available!

colour me confused...

Kerbals will respawn over time unless you disable respawns in your persistence file.

The three with orange uniforms (Jeb, Bill, and Bob) respawn. I don't know when exactly but they were always back after I started the game again. The rest is placed on the Lost list and you get new recruits, I believe. Not sure though as the only ones I killed so far were the three heroes.

change that to false

I think this was changed in 0.22. I, too, saw a situation where Jeb was accidentally killed. (Iwasn'tThereNobodySawMeYouCan'tProveAnything!) He respawned after just a few flights, when previously it used to take quite a long time.

Hm, one flight I ran out of fuel and decided to terminate flight, but kerman just appeared in "available". At the same moment as I confirmed terminating.

that's because terminate instantly tele-teles everything back to base

I don't have the courage to terminate Jeb

I have to save him, I will save him!

(even if it take to him 142 kerbin's years stranded in a lander werkage)

My "lost" section in v0.22 never had anyone inside even some Kerbals perished. They would not respawn, but they weren't there, either.

my jeb is still stuck in orbit around the mun, and I've already sent 2 seperate missions to duna, I fear for him.
