Wrong, wrong, wrong, etc etc

Stores of knowledge no-one may see

Abutting spacetimes; energy

Is needed yet to make them real

As the strings the present must feel.

That present may elude our grasp

When what's to come we spy in glass.

Week foll'wing week, day after day,

A year or more to maybe stay.

I've not tried to make this easy

But I do hope it is not cheesy.

Hint 1: You can find one in the solar system.

Hint 2: You can find one on Earth.

Perhaps it a comet/asteroid?

Edit: Or string theory?

Edit: Or a telescope?

Edit: Or dark matter?

(No, I'm totally not grasping at straws here :P)

He said it's probably in your town.

Hmm... Telescope may just work?

More noes. Surely someone must have a flash of inspiration at some point.

I'm afraid not.

Computers? Come on...

OMG! It's a lightbulb! Like for an old-school camera!

Or maybe just the photo itself? like while it's developing.

Or just a camera itself?

Or a digital camera? (not sure how specific we're being here)

"... hope it's not too cheesy"

"... a flash of inspiration"

Stores of knowledge no-one may see

- Files are hidden until viewed

Abutting spacetimes;

- It captures a specific point in spacetime

energy // Is needed yet to make them real

- Requires electricity to function

As the strings the present must feel.

- Old-school cameras were operated by a string, I believe

That present may elude our grasp

- You can't technically take a picture of the present, cuz it's already past...?

When what's to come we spy in glass.

- You see what picture you're going to take before you do (viewfinder)

Week foll'wing week, day after day,

- It's gonna stick around a while,

A year or more to maybe stay.

- A long while.

I've not tried to make this easy

- You haven't...

But I do hope it is not cheesy.

- "Say cheese!"

Brilliant!

Wrong, but brilliant. It fits most of the riddle so well.

Nor is it a telescope, computer, or CCTV camera.

And "flash of inspiration" was not a hint.

Darn! And I thought I had it :(

Hint 4: I expect you can find one in your home.

Maybe someone will solve this by the time I come back here in the summer... :D

Don't count on it :P

Also: a hard drive?

Or a digital scanner?

Or a television?

"As the strings the present must feel."

Strings could refer not only to physical strings (like guitar strings) but instead strings of information, like we find on a computer.

Also, "That present may elude our grasp"

Present may be referring not to the current time, but to a gift.

No, no, no, no.

Also, I've realised this is another riddle that may be a lot harder for an American to solve. Because seriously, you guys are weird. You've never heard of Ludo, and now this. Nonetheless it shouldn't be impossible for Americans, and anyway I doubt I'm the only Brit in the thread.
