EthanKerbman
On my part, yes, so far I've only reproduced it with symmetry (and confirmed that it's solved once you strip symmetry), I had another instance without symmetry but with so many other mods and under such circumstances that 1) I'm not sure it's exactly the same bug and 2) I don't think RealChutes was the problem in that instance. Cerebrate
Can you all confirm that this only happens with chutes used in symmetry?I haven't seen it happen with only nose/stack chutes. I haven't yet tried using only a single radial chute/multiple radial chutes applied without symmetry, but I'll give it a try when I get back from dinner.-c
Castun
Update your version of RealChutes, and delete the old folder in the process. I was experiencing the same issue. (Essentially the CoM gets "misplaced"). The problem actually happens at 6KM for me, and gets worse every additional 6KM -- odd, but I think it's due to some sort of universe offloading that happens at that altitude (aka Krakensbane). While the update fixes the COM issue for me, I'm experiencing an issue where I get NullReferenceException spam as soon as I hit that altitude while Realchutes is installed -- so some portion of the original problem still remains. The problem goes away if Realchutes is removed (same vessel). Occurs on both 32-bit and 64-bit builds (though my 64-bit build is now crashing as soon as starting or resuming a game due to another mod, so I'm not touching it at the moment.)Can also confirm. Was having rapid unplanned disassembly at 6 KM, built a new rocket from scratch and it doesn't fall apart now, but there is still NullRefException spam. stupid_chris
Okay, hopefully this does it for good. Another hotfix, v1.2.2.2Changelog:July 22nd 2014 (take two)v1.2.2.2*Hotfix*-Hopefully last fix to the symmetry bugI'd gather this fixes it definitely. UAL002
Im on 1.2.2.1 and just had my first COM bug in a while. At time of COM movement, I had 2 real-chutes radials, on a rocket comprised of nearly all HGR parts. I'm pretty sure I applied symmetry settings correctly. Any advice, need anything from me? Not even sure it was realchutes that caused it yet.EDIT: HA, nevermind, I should update to 1.2.2.2. Ill report back if it continues. Cheers. ArcFurnace
Just blindly put two radial chutes on a rocket using symmetry, and they worked properly. Encouraging, because when I did that before installing 1.2.2.2 I only got one functioning parachute.

trnt
Thanks for quick bugfix! I've been testing 1.2.2.2, and it seems there's no symmetry bug, no revert/load bug, and no new bug found(at least in my test).
tg626
V1.2.1 I think.Curious problem tonight. Typical Apollo style mission, landed and returned to orbit. Switched to csm which has a stack parachute below its doing port.As soon as the craft loads, it appears that the parachute freezes in place and the rest of the csm flies on in orbit. The camera view then acts like its on an elastic being stretched between the frozen parachute and the moving csm. The parachute disappears from the staging too.Does this sound familiar? Or have I found something new? I'm posting this tonight, but don't have time to update to 1.2.2.2 tonight.... I'm just wondering if the update will fix this or if the mission is hosed.... Read the front page and the change log to see what was being changed and why. Empower yourself. And yes, your mission is hosed barring you manually editing your save file AFTER updating to 1.2.2.2It would be easier for you to send up a rescue craft to pull off the crew and recover any science they have. stupid_chris
What Starwaster said. Editing your save file could work, but it might be very complex depending on how advanced you are and how complex your craft is.

Mavzor
If install RealChutes on my vessel I get pulled sideways in flight. Sometimes the vessel shoots out of the screen, camera points in midair! No errors in debug window. (v1.2.2.1 / .24 / x64 / Win7)Identical version setup, similar problems.Attempted a 'strip back' of mods.Only KW. Same problems.Strange krakens will start affecting my ships. Sometimes just a short mission, just high kerbin orbit. No inputs. Camera loses focus, Begins moving wildly in space with 20+ G forces.Ship eventually breaks apart.Removed realchute last thinking 'this wont have any affect, im not in atmo'Realchute was the cause.Have since loaded back up on 20+ mods, no gyrating, no krakens. Sarayakat
Regarding Mavzor's problem. I had the same thing happen 2 versions back (a few days ago that is). As near as I could tell it was the 6 death Kraken as described on the wiki page. I too struggled with it as I had a few other mods. I removed realchutes as an experiment having read an old post from 2013 by a person ascribing a similar issue to realchutes. Having nothing to lose I removed the mod and my problem went away. I relate this as it seems to be a problem once fixed has returned! I hope that helps in tracking it down as I love this mod. I will reinstall this latest vers and get back to you if anything changes. Thx for all your hard work, stupid! EDIT: I reinstalled, started a sandbox, went to VAB, clicked on a radial chute and ctd. Deinstalled, restarted, loaded up my career and the first rocket I went to was untethered from the camera, drifted away and way destroyed by heavy G's. Is there a way to undo the changes this mod made short of reinstalling everything? I had to do that last time and I am not looking forward to it.
