Idea Dump

Recommended Posts

Here's some ideas I'm just dumping here:

Fuel leaks: Happen with medium-hard hits on fuel tanks, fuel lost faster in higher gravity, very slowly in 0G. Can be fixed on EVA.

More things to repair on EVA and (Hard mode) random failures of parts, some can be fixed by a Kerbal, some need other equipment/Kerbals to fix.

So basically more things that can go wrong, but more ways to fix them (Apollo 13 is a good example)

What I want to be able to do is have something like Apollo 13 or Hubble, where there were repairs.

Maybe (KAS-style) you can attach parts onto a craft to help repair it?

Can I throw one in?

Transfer button:Moves a .Craft from the VAB to the SPH and visa-versa.Rotates the ship 90o dependant on where to as well as changing where 'return to' leads.

If you make your craft a sub assembly , you can effectively do this :)

You have to tear the ship apart as to remove the starting piece(which may be impossible)This would move all of it making it easier for players who don't know how to edit the files correctly to build rovers and shuttles.

Yes Sal. SelectRoot. Best. Mod. Ever. Ever tried to make an apollo style mission without it? God, it's so much harder to build! (less-so if you use subassemblies).

Since this is an idea dump, here is one or two of mine:

3.75m parts. I'm not saying add them in now, but rather I'd like at least an opinion from Squad on what they think about adding this size to the game.

Cargo parts. Particularly for the Mk 2 and Mk 3 fuselages. Currently, I'm running B9 and 2 or 3 Tohou Torpedo mods to get these.

And some other stuff I won't mention here.

Just put your ideas for KSP, it'll be fun :)

My idea, more sounds, such as electric motor noises and other stuff to improve the feel of the game.

I`m for this. I know in space you can`t hear jeb scream and stuff but I`d like docking thumps, thruster hisses, scraping and banging if you collide with a station or similar. Also beeps like chatterer but activated by in game stuff. One could be like a parking beeper but for landing if you are IVA. bi bi bi bi bibibibibi.

My Idea is for a huge plume of smoke and flame from the launchpad and longer jets from the engines. As long as the craft itself like this. (I`m sure modern GFX cards can handle a bit of smoke and flame). It would look cool.

A Titan can run Planetside 2 maxed out at triple digit frame rates. Assuming the smoke looks the same as it does now, just more of it, any computer with anything more than a $5 GFX card will work. any AMD or NVidia can handle what you see in that picture.

EDIT: I second the post previous to the one I responded to above. MOAR VFX! Also, I'd like to see better explosions when crafts fail. If my Saturn V replica fails, I want a Saturn V scale explosion, not just a bunch of small ones and a huge pile of debris. Engine effects definitely need to be looked as well.

I`d like a fireball based on the amount of fuel left in the part that exploded. That also would be cool.

EDIT : It would also make a good case for escape towers...

Sorry, didn't know about the suggestion forum.

I think it might be ok this time...

Another idea: Launch clamps that feed infinite fuel into your rocket, so you can run the engines pre-launch!

I like this one, proper testbed. At the moment I build a little tower that has just enough fuel in it. The tower rocks back and forth on launch and looks quite good but I really like your idea.

Definitely. I've seen some incredible people who construct proper launch towers using mostly stock parts including fuel tanks for this very purpose, but they're a pain to make. I'd like to see more parts designed specifically for launchpad stabilization. For instance, the current support tower has to be a fixed distance from the attachment point, so it'd be nice if we could create more complex towers to accommodate larger rockets.

Resources

Money

Asteroids and asteroid belts

Comets

Colonisation

Extra Kerbal countries (can toggle it off so it wont upset the care bears)

Advanced engine tec like Fusion and Anti matter drives

Other star systems.

Kerbal skill Developent

Mission speclists

Telescopes

Thats about it, mods can do the rest (and in some cases already have).

I beg to differ. In fact, my graphics card (which definitely costs more than $5) starts to choke when looking at the smoke if you let your engines burn while on the ground. If you get what I mean....

Nevertheless, I'm sure that can be fixed and I'm totally in for BIGGAH SMOKE PILLARS :D
