This is my third SSTO with the new engines. I wanted to try out a kind of a new design with upwards pointed positive v-shape of the wings, witch doesn't payed off. Maybe KSP is not capable to calculate such a wingshape or the wingtip tanks are the reason.

So this plane have an drawback: Don't alter the course sharply at high altitudes without applying power. Under 6 km there are no flaws.

On the positve side: In this testrun i achieved an 500 by 500 km orbit, witch makes the plane capable of reaching most targets within a 400 km orbit. And you will have up to 94 kg liquid fuel left if you used up every single drop in rocked mode.

That means, if you fall short or overshoot KSC it is no problem at all to reach the runway. Don't forget to change the mode for the engines to air-breathing mode manually!

BTW: I will possible not poll, in case that i have not the the time to test all crafts poperly to be fair.

Craft is stock only

Sorry for the utterly horrible screenshots but I'm on my laptop and it barely does KSP

The VH-1 - RAPIER Vertical Takeoff and Landing SSTO.

38 tons

72 part count flight ready.

This is also the aircraft I'm working with to complete my VTOL challenge.

Known as a 'tailsitter' the VH-1 is a pure VTOL. It is also one of the easiest aircraft to fly that I've ever designed. By interchanging various parts (cargo bays and crew tanks) it's capable of delivering Kerbals or Cargo into a LKO or performing more mundane atmospheric duties. LFO tanks can easily be removed or replaced with LF tanks when non-orbital needs arise. With a crew tank and ladders it can even act as a taxi, delivering Kerbals to various locations on Kerbin. As an alternative, rotors can be placed on the nose (from the Firespitter mod) and flown as a helo. Various engines can be easily swapped and relocated for different performance needs.

By adding or removing reaction wheels, even precision landings can be achieved.

Launching is the only challenging part as it's designed horizontally then rotates vertically. The included craft file needs no intervention to rotate properly. Should you decide to modify it, read the craft file notes for launching hints.

You may choose to disqualify me due to the method I have to use to launch this beast. KSP assumes that I have multiple stages.

Mods Used B9 / Stock

The linked craft file includes documentation on launch, flight and landing. This craft file is the SSTO version with 4 RAPIERS and two turbofans.

Enjoy!

Hi all, this is my first post on the forums but I've been lurking them since October.

I present you: ZRC Zirsdaedge

A1GSQQs.jpg

Mods needed: FAR, KerbPaint. It works on vanilla KSP too (only if you tweak the control surfaces: cannards for pitch, wings for roll and pitch, the others for yaw)

Maximum mass: 18.94 t

Maximum vacuum delta-V: 4308 m/s

Number of parts: 66

In the album it's shown how I manage to SSTO it and land on Minmus without refueling. Had to cheat 50m/s worth of fuel for the return trip, though. I landed it on KSC (totally intented. Yep):

HotKeys:

Stage: Shutdowns LV-N. Used so it's easy to liftoff at MET 0:00 - Just press space and shift and you're good to go.

Abort: Shutdowns all the engines, fires the decoupler and deploys the chute.

1: Toggles the LV-N

2: Toggles the dual RAPIERs

3: Switches the RAPIERs to oxidizer-mode and back. Toggles air intakes too

6: Toggles the Inline Clamp-o-Tron. It's easy to dock with it if you use Dock mode and Smooth (?) mode (toggle Smooth mode with CAPS lock)

7: Toggles the solar panels

8: Toggles the ladder

10: Logs in all science

KermaJet KR100 Kodachi

Download

KR100.jpg

A light, fast, and easy to fly Space Plane. Fully reusable, perfect for switching crew on a space station. Comes equipped with an antenna, ladder, lighting, and a mini docking port. Unlike the bigger planes, the KR100 is much less expensive to build and fly.

A video is provided of the KR100 performing a single crew transfer from the orbiting space station. The mission was not planned beforehand.

People of the forum!

I present you, the new RAPIER engine SSTO marvel, the not-so-efficient ARROWLANCE mk1!!!!!!, featuring a new concept of cockpit location, you are able to see your plane while in IVA, also, able to perform 1st person docking with ease.

It also has a little container in the front of the plane, where you can hold your lunch for the trip! :)

VOTE FOR MY SSTO!, (Even if the name is not listed well, after 2 posts and 2 dm) thanks :D

Look at this sexy spaceplane :D

My favorites were the X53a5 and Algol2.

After a lot of testings in the game (with FAR), I finally chose my vote must be for...

SlyReaper's Algol2. It had way more delta-V after achieving orbit.

If I could multivote, I would choose both of them though. It was a tough decision.

However, I've just realized while writing this that I can NOT vote. Maybe I can't vote because I have a low post number? Any help here, Sirine?

EDIT: I can vote now, I think the problem was I had less than 3 posts. Problem solved.

You have only a few minutes to make an action within this forum. You may have the state "logged in", but you are after time went by unable to submit a post or poll.

Therefore log out and log in again, an you should be able to poll.

Thanks for the information, but this couldn't be the problem: in forums I'm always logged out unless I need to do something, then I log in, do it and log out again.

By the way, I can vote now, so I think it was indeed a "Curious George" user group limitation.
