More work on my fuel efficient business jet, now has more fuel, more control and can carry 4 passengers and 2 crew. I did another test flight where it hit KSC after an eastwards circumnavigation and overshot by a huge distance so I kept it at altitude and it managed to make it half the way back around Kerbin, before I realised it can't land on water. It is 38 parts and about 17 tonnes fully fuelled.

Since it takes 220 units of fuel to takeoff and climb to altitude and had way more than that on passing KSC after circumnavigating that means (I think) it has enough range to go anywhere on Kerbin, land, and return, in about an hour and 5 minutes. It can do so on less than 1320 funds too (the cost of a full refuelling for it), so it could be really useful for career, especially since you could swap out the passenger module for a cargo bay full of science or a small rover (1.75 tonnes) and do survey contracts.

It needs a better landing gear, the current system looks bad but I can't think of another way to do it without huge drag. Also, it is very prone to overshooting because of very low drag so airbrakes would be good, but I don't want the drag when they are closed and anyway, for maximum efficiency you would let it glide as far as it can to the target.

It looks really good. Might I suggest playing a bit with the tail? Anhedral on your vertical stabilizers would actually make it roll the right way when trying to yaw, which not only looks nice, if you get the angle just right you can turn the plane in a coordinated turn just by pressing A/D.

Rune. Plus, no vertical stabilizer in the middle would look cool.

I fear I am becoming obsessed with things that spin. I really ought to get back to my career save... Not even made it to the Mun yet. Fundamentally sound. Needs some tweaks and then to be tested off-world. 85% success ratio for Kerbals spawning in command seats. Oh and the neat thing is that once you set the rotation you can leave it be. The wheel brakes are powerful enough to stop the wheel when you want embark/disembark. Although why would you want to go through that pain and hassle?

I can't get the docking ports to dock automatically... if I line them up in SPH they don't align when you launch. If I allow for the offset, then they're completely offset. I haven't tried changing their location. It functions fine without it, but sometimes the brakes only applying on one side can cause quirks.

Sure hope the crappy weather stops so I can go play outside again soon...

This could be helpful when I get around to building the Tsar Tank for my planned WW1 Tanks collection. I'm waiting on the Mark IV tank to be finished before I move on to another one though

The U-Boat is coming along well. It's part count is so high (over 400) that I've had to remove it from my main install and port it over to the stock one I reserve specially for testing stock craft that have high part counts or require a high FPS.

The first room I furnished was the aft torpedo room. I actually started on the forward torpedo room, but the game crashed before I could save my work. I couldn't find very many good pictures to tell me what each room looks like, so I took some liberties with the control station, chair, and bunks. The only thing I know this room has for certain is a single torpedo tube.

When it's finished and I'm happy that it's reliable and fully functional. It's "only" at 380ish parts right now. But spawning 20 Kerbals with Take Command does give it even more lag... I can't wait to unleash my 16gb of RAM and not be CPU limited.

Also on my list of want to build: Zorb. Tinkered the other day, but couldn't get anything to work. Thing would CTD or explode when you staged.

If you want a copy of the craft file as it is, let me know. More than happy to share for the greater good. The moving parts aren't going to change. Well they shouldn't. It's just tidying and getting both ends of the bearing to connect so you can apply brakes evenly. And then maybe build some sort of ramp. But that might be taking it too far because the part count is already up there. Perhaps I'll do an undressed version with just the bare necessities for it to work so people can build their own ferris wheel. Or add rockets. Or just watch it explode.

I tried to make the gondolas as low part # as possible. But ran into stability issues. This seems to be the best bet. But then I stopped trying when this one worked flawlessly. She's actually smooth as silk.

Take a peek over at http://www.subsim.com/index.php if you can't find U-Boot pics there... Then pm me. I've got SH3 on this mac so can fire it up and take screens if you like. Not sure how accurate it is... Or check out video footage from Das Boot. They filmed it in a 100% scale replica that they built...

PS Epic. It'll kill my FPS but I look forward to crash diving.

Very nice high detail U-boat you got going there :D 400+ parts seems kerbal enough! Well I've kind of neglected the tanks section and warships and started working on some sweet planes. One being very close to pTrevTrev's avatar :D

Comes with animated propeller. And using coms doesn't work as well as this elevons :D

It probably won't be able to dive. If it's anything like my last sub (link in sig) it won't be able to manage more than five meters per second in the water. But you can always pretend. Maybe Better Buoyancy will let it dive, who knows?

Cool man. I was thinking about making one the other day. The first launches will be atop an Atlas V.

I've tried a Atlas V before, but it ran into issues with engines. I might give another shot with a twin-boar. I can't wait for that SSME! Atlas V, Ariane, STS, Titan II, everything with dual nozzle engines...

I was thinking about building fairing and putting seats inside to emulate soyuz capsule, but making nice looking fairing is too hard for me... this part of editor sucks IMO, we should have gizmos to change shape of fairings.

Actually, I'm using those 1.25 capsules, the cone shaped ones.

Not stock but wanted to share it anyway.

B9 is not nice with memory. Only 460 parts, memory use can go from 2.4gb to 3.8gb within placing a few parts. Progress is slow due to the massive amount of crashes.

This will be a 1.1 release, that's for sure.

Anyway. This is my 1978 Battlestar Galactica at 1/2 scale. Final dimensions will be 625x 255x 125.

B9 is not nice with memory. Only 460 parts, memory use can go from 2.4gb to 3.8gb within placing a few parts. Progress is slow due to the massive amount of crashes.

This will be a 1.1 release, that's for sure.

Anyway. This is my 1978 battlestar galactica at 1/2 scale. Final dimensions will be 625x 255x 125.

Having been on the old sub in Helsinki harbour I can tell you that there is never more room than you need to scratch your bum on a sub.

That looks pretty cool, I know why you want to use them, even if they do muck up the handling. Its ease of rotation is a factor of the number of wheels you have touching the bearing shaft. More wheels requires more torque to turn. If you try only four wheels it may work with the antennae.
