Playing without stock?

I already have a list of mods I would like to use Including (But not limited to) FASA, KSPX, NovaPunch, KWRocketry, B9, HGR, and a bunch of other plugin mods. I was thinking about deleteing everything except the Fuel lines, unless somebody knows a mod that either has them, or a way around using them.

In order to pull this off would I only need to delete the Squad parts folder, Or delete just the part configs?

this is known in mod circles as a "total conversion". usually there is some focus such as to make a game in another scifi universe, or to make a game with a particular theme or gameplay style.

there is a lot of potential in ksp for this kinda thing.

Yes. KOSMOS even has fuel lines, so it's entirely possible.

KW has EVERYTHING you could need for launch vehicles, KOSMOS, laggy as it is, gives you your solar panels (NFP is a good alternative for panels and ion thrust).

Novapunch and AEIS give you virtually everything you need.

WAY WAY back when, I actually did this as a challenge called Stockless Space program, where you had to do seemingly mundane missions without stock parts at all, not on the launcher, landing equipment, NOTHING.

This gives me the idea of making a restock mod to completely replace the stock part library and totally change up the art style. I wonder what kind of things would be doable like that?

Who says you need Kerbin? There are already add on planets, I'm sure a new KSC could be made.. maybe a KSC in the style of Coruscant, and replace all the planets with Star Wars ones..the possibilities are endless given enough time, coding ability, and imagination.

Back in .20, my stock parts folder was down to something like 15 parts, so yeah its definitely doable.

Does anyone know where I can get fuel lines that are not stock?

There is a fuel line in the Kosmos pack but be aware that like the stock part, fuel will only flow in one direction, but there is no clear marking on the fuel line. For my use, I just edited the .tga texture file and put some arrows on it to avoid the inevitable confusion problems :)

Should be easy enough to test. I keep a directory in my KSP root for removed mods so that if I want them back I can just move them back to the gamedata directory. It would be pretty easy to do that with the squad folder and see how long it takes you to start wishing for something from the stock inventory.

What about launch clamps though? Is that something any mod makers have bothered with?

FASA has clams and towers, should be interesting.

It's going surprisingly well despite not having a whole lot of science options. (I still have the crew report, EVA and Surface sample, plus whatever else mods give)

Mission Reports.

Does anyone have a Module Manager to integrate KOSMOS into the tech tree? Pretty sure it's the only one that has solar panels and the fuel line. (Possibly the two parts I will miss most if KOSMOS doesn't have them)

Here's the mod I was talking about if you're interested. He's apparently go mini versions of the science jr and goo too

I'm pushing my RAM limit as is, (Had to delete Kethane and a couple of others that were redundant) but I will certainly keep it in mind. I'm thinking about changing the node that you get the KSP Interstellar science lab to the Stock one so that I have a node.
