Wait a minute....The god's of Kerbol banished the Kraken! We were told the Kraken was no more!

How could you possible bottle the Kraken and use it f......ARE YOU GOD?

It has returned from the depths, and Jeb insisted in hunting the damned squid! :sticktongue: Nope, seriously, krakensbane only minimizes the effects of the kraken bug, and I suspect it is the reason of the two distinct modes of operation (krakensbane is not active when flying close to the ground). And all the credit for its discovery goes to Conrade Jenkens, BTW, I just was quick to commercialize the idea.

On behaff of Zokesia skunkworks, can i get the latest, most reliable version? Our versions seem to work for about a half a second or spin out of control...

I have a single-leg model based on inigma's version of the drive (I think he posted a shuttle based on it on the SSI thread, too) that short of works better, at least in hover mode, but you don't have much more reliability in turning it on in space... Just that when it fails, you don't get crazy spins, and when it works, you get less acceleration. Try as I might, a reliable in-space drive eludes my grasp. Make sure to F5 just before a burn and F9 a lot for now!

Rune. As I say in the OP, 15% success in turning it on is what you would call a good day.

What's called the JD-Drive version seems to be reliable in space (as long as you don't let your speed fall under 700m/s while the drive is active - else, the kraken attacks :P)

Although the jd-drive only goes to 2g's of acceleration :P

It can be found in the tyrene's group post in rocket builders :) (even modified one to put it inside a spaceplane - which got to laythe with around 10 activations / deactivations without quickloading :))

I have to try it myself, I only hear nice things about it! And 2G's is nothing to be laughed at, if you can manage the navigation (even if this drive hits more than 18!). BTW, has anyone got any easy tool to calculate a brachistochrone trajectory? I imagine that would be a pain in the ass to pilot...

Also, zekes, the nice part about this ship is that even with a broken drive, you can get out there and "push" by clicking "repair leg" repeatedly. Every time the leg snaps again it propels you forwards slightly. I have circularized like that a bunch of times! To repair, you can pause time just after clicking "repair" by hitting "ESC", then you should be able to click on "raise legs" to save them from snapping again immediately.

Rune. As I said, F5 before a burn for the most ease of use. Also, Kerbal Alarm Clock can remember your maneuver nodes after a reload, which is useful.

Yup, and some have gotten around or over 20g of acceleration in orbit.

Apparently EladDv has managed to improve on the original and claims 100% reliability to boot! Expect a ton of K-Drive ships in the near future... Clearly with the gizmos now allowing you to adjust things very controllably, these things are much more doable.

Rune. Maybe even a K-Drive module to work as tug...

It's much more reliable, but the legs still break occasionally. (I'd say to only use single-leg design K-Drives ATM for craft you want to repair in-flight, as my attempts to repair a multi-leg drive wound up turning into a Kraken-ball match, and the Kerbals becoming the balls.)

Nice but not the first by any means. I've landed on Moho and back at KSP using awesome designs were made. Didn't try this for a long time now since I thought one of the patches tried to remove this feature.

You could even do small corrections - turn it on and off in quick succession without it breaking.

a long time ago and it was 100 % reliable. I remember we even had two kraken drive workshop threads where many

Say, more than a year ago? Check the OP's date, because when I built it, the K-Drive name wasn't coined yet. :P

Rune. Damn I've been playing at this long.

Ah, I didn't see that the OP is so old, sorry. But yes, it was quite a while ago, my memory is horrible so I don't really know when exactly. Weren't you one of the original drive's developers too?

"Developer" is exactly the right word. I saw the original idea just as it was posted here for the first time, and this is the thread that resulted, with, as advertised, the first K-Drive-powered ship ready for public consumption that was actually capable of doing stuff, and a K-Drive that was chopped to half the parts of the original sorcery-filled file I got my hands on.

Rune. And thus I earned my tiny spot in the wiki. :D

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
