GTA V Should I buy/Discussion Thread

For me, its two "tests". If you are unsure, try the demo. If you like it and it runs well on your machine (the first test), then the second test applies. I like games such that no matter who is at your place, I am comfortable playing the game and those around me are comfortable and having fun too. That includes parents, kids, friends; all that. If that bothers you (the idea of gaming with all those people around, or any of them around), then see if the settings allow applying language/ gore filters. Otherwise, consider either not buying the game, or just playing it alone. But for me, half the fun is those with me watching the action, or playing the game themselves.

Played it through once and I am working on my second play through.

If you have a console it's worth getting just for the story. R* pulls few punches with it. They also call out allot of games for numbing people to mass murder.

I say no, it seems like a useless and moral-nullifying game.
So? name one popular game that doesn't require the player to act like a sociopath to beat? If you aren't bothered by it you have problems.

I was asking myself the same question a few days ago although I knew I was always gonna buy it someday but I didnt know whether it was worth the $69 they still ask for it in Australia.

Anyway I did it and do not regret it one second. It is mile ahead of gta4 and the story is so well acted it is a joy to watch and play it. It almost feels like a tarantino movie. There is no doubt it is my favourite gta game now, worth every peny.

GTA V Is much better than IV but not quite as good as San Andreas. It looks better than San Andreas, but the story line is a little erratic. San Andreas was focused more on character development than GTA V. I think you will be happy with it if you can get past the vulgarity and violence and such, and enjoy it for what it is, a good looking and good playing game. It is definitely the best console game I've played since San Andreas, although Skyrim is pretty damn good too.

As for whether to buy for a console or a pc, I look at it like this : I know it will work on my xbox 360 or my PS3, most definitely not on my laptop. If you have a high end PC, then go for it. Some of the screenshots I've seen from pc's are amazing. The California sunsets are rich and full of color. Not to mention the incredible amount of detail you will notice from time to time, like mud puddles filling up during rain storms, or tent flaps flapping in the breeze. Getting a game set up for a pc can be a pain, while consoles are simple : put the disc in and go. Either way, the game looks great. Gameplay is smooth and fun.

Edit : Okay, now I'm confused. I thought I saw screenshots on a forum last week from a pc, but it still hasn't released for pc yet? I'll thumb through my browser history and try to find out what's up later. Maybe those were from a ps3. Regardless, they were really good.

Here's the thread I saw those pictures in : http://gtaforums.com/topic/652898-professional-photographers-snapmatic/page-2

I incorrectly assumed those were from a pc. My bad.
