I could very easily see this played in combination with Extra-Planetary Launchpads to recreate the first Star Trek movie's introduction to the Enterprise.Plus, if it's good with re-entry, it would probably also function perfectly as the final stage of a ship meant to bring new crew to a LKO space station (and then possibly further in a larger craft).
