Did you start a new career for .23.5?

Did you start Career or Sandbox when you started .23.5?

  1. 1. Did you start Career or Sandbox when you started .23.5?

    • I edited my old career data into a new .23.5 save

First thing I did was slap together a ship and capture an asteroid. Then I had to start a new career because one of my mods had massive changes that ruined all my craft (no big deal, it's clearly in development).

I'm going to wait for .24 just in case they do some tweaking that breaks saves. I don't like starting big worlds/projects in the middle of an update. Pretty much only right after it comes out.

i thought the same thing. im hoping that .24 doesnt come out for at least 2 months, since i decided to bite the bullet and restart career. i dont want a date confirmation, just for them to acknoledge that it wont be before the end of may. .24 allegedly has an accelerated schedule, since half the work is already in .23.5

I started a new Career file today, and tested my theory on unlocking all of the tech tree in 2 launches without even leaving the Kerbin system. Said plan involves a jaunt out to Minmus and 9 EVAs to the surface, followed by a large-scale Mun mission to milk all 15 biomes dry. It worked precisely as planned.

Started a new career then loaded up old save to complete a mission. Found all the parts and asteroids were in place in the old save with no editing needed. I'm now working through the tree in the new save, and have captured 3 asteroids in the old one.

My plan: Start new career and hack in Science. I've already done science about for 20 saves. Yes, I like it that much :P

That's exactly what I did. I started and unlocked about 12 branches and decided to add the science archive and trees to my new save. Although I'm only copying the archived science and points. I'll need to re-flag everything.

I started a new save. Nominally it's in Career, but I just hacked in a load of science and unlocked everything, then zeroed the science points again. So it's basically Sandbox, except that I can still earn science if I want.

I did exactly the same thing. But i will start from scratch when .24 is out with all those new career features. I am looking forward to the next update.

Hello,

I added costs to Science about 1/3 higher than normal; use Achievements, Ribbons, Career mode and quicksave only if the game bugs out...this is actually my first real game missions-wise tho I have played sandbox about a year on and off so I was ready to start 'for real' - IE Kerbals can die and get lost now no more missions simulations for me !!! Just in time this patch came out so I was pretty excited...its about time for me !!

Normally I start from scratch with every major update. But this time I did not as I had just started a long duration Eve/Gilly mission, mining Gilly with EPL and Kethane to explore Eve.

Editing my 0.23 save to make it compatible with 0.23.5 was the obvious solution.

I started over in 0.23, and will in 0.24 probably, but wasn't finished the tree in .23 and was trying to get a baseline on a minimal elapsed game time to do it (and to return a Kerbal and sample from every body except Kerbol and Jool) so I preserved my save. We will see how that goes and what my options are when 0.24 comes out.

I have 3 craft on their way to a Class E 'roid hoping to bring it into LKO on the first pass, but if the dV is too much maybe go for a maneuver to get to a 2nd orbit LKO via aerobraking.

New install, new career. Between cleaning out all the mods I didn't use and the update the game is running smoother. Right now I'm up to about Gemini level in tech, sending probes to the Mun and getting ready to experiment with docking as soon as I unlock RCS.

I'm not entirely sure what this means: "I started a new career and am completing the science tree before building"

I started a new career mode, but what am I supposed to be building? I built my first rocket before finishing the tree. I'm now ready to capture an asteroid, and I still haven't finished the tree.

I have a career save from 0.22.0 and 0.23.0 which I want to port to 0.23.5. How do I do it? I did load it up without going to the R&D centre, but I found no asteroids.

I then started a sandbox mode and tested the new parts. I haven’t tried out the Claw yet, but I may have to use it to shift some gigantic 3.75 meter SSTO space junk.

I answered "I started a new sandbox and got straight to testing" because I was eager to try out the new large parts and also go capture an asteroid or two asap. Did that, it was fun but not as difficult as I thought it would be (for a couple of C class). I have an unmanned probe that will ride an E class asteroid out of the Kerbin system soon, too little fuel to capture it. Oh well, I'm sure we'll see it again in the future.

Now have moved on to a brand new career mode save, and working my way through the technology tree. Just completed a return from a landing on the northern pole of Minmus, and will revisit soon. Need to revisit the Mun for more biomes too.
