Europa Report

Hello moto

I think this belongs somewhere else (space lounge?). On topic of the movie, it was good, although morbid. Also I think the jumping around of the timeline is unnecessary. All-in-all, one of the more realistic space films I've seen.

Excellent movie. I actually watched it BECAUSE of a reference to it on the KSP forum.

It inspired me to expedite full manned missions to Eeloo, to look into the possibility that it is in fact, Europa, ejected from Jool's orbit (it nearly intersects Jool orbit). Studies indicate that the "brown gash lines" are areas of brown soil, lacking the formation of ice crystals that spans most of the planet.

You'll recall in the movie those lines on Europa were stress fractures in the ice (where the ice was thin and heavy with cryovolcanic activity).

In reality we don't know what those lines on the real Europa are, they could be dirt.

I think KSP Eeloo is Europa. Anyone els?

One thing I noticed is that when they started the engines to get away, they melted the ice they were on and sort of sunk a little. That could be a problem if not prepared for.

And I loved it, can't believe I only just recently have found it.

I found the movie surprisingly good. However my expectations were lowered by the more budget nature of the film. Silly me.

Great movie...although I'm not a huge fan of the shift towards "horror movie" towards the end. They did the same to Sunshine and I also didn't like that ending.

I disagree about Europa Report... it had the vibe of impending doom from the start, and the trailers made it clear it was horror. Sunshine though started out like 2001 Space Odyssey and ended in Event Horizon. It was a disjointed mashup to me.

Yes! Nice movie, quite realistic for a change. And District 9 Wicus van de Merwe (Sharlto Copley) is there! :D

Thought it would have been so much better if they would not have found any life. Why do they always have to screw up science fiction movies with stupid horror. :(

Just saw it, I have to say this is probably the first "found footage" style movie I've actually liked. Jumping around in the timeline was a bit jarring at first, especially since it's framed more as a post-mission documentary, but that stopped bugging me fairly quickly. So yeah, I rather liked it. Maybe as a result I'll start planning out a long-term mission to Eeloo.

Now I just need to find a way to watch Sunshine... .
