[Showcase] Showoff Your Rep-Worthy Crafts

Recommended Posts

Kerbantis. To be honest, it was just me putting together a bunch of random stalks of command pods with tanks, But! In order for it to look worthy, fly, and actually meet what I wanted it to look like in requirements, it needed to be set up to where it had usable antimatter drives, a usable warp drive, and it even needed to be set up to where it wouldn't gather too much waste heat and shut down. So a lot mroe work went into this than I had originally anticipated.

I did it! Minmus anomaly base is all set up nice and proper. The crew is having a blast after a job well done assembling it! I think it is quite rep-worthy, considering all I used was the single Eagle, more than a few (not really) identical Base Packs, an orbiting station to stockpile the stuff in, and lots and lots of patience, care, and an untold number of landings and dockings.

Oh, and the VSSTO as an emergency escape vehicle, of course, that was also fun to dock in there after I had built it.

Rune. Expect the updated files for the base pack with the new construction rover soon-ish.

Uh, the Proton doesn't have boosters. :P

The first stage just happens to have a weird form six engines. :)

Honestly, I don't care if it uses solid fuel or not, it just looks cooler. and I know that the first stage has a very short fuel tank, if I had it the full length it would be totally overkill, because it has a perfect amount of fuel to get to orbit, (and still a lot to spare).

Oh, and about the six engines?

That pic shows the meat of the question, and Proton's most distinctive feature. Due to Soviet rail limitations for transport and to ease assembly afterwards, the Proton's liquid fueled engines are built into the fuel tanks, and are installed around a large central oxidizer tank. The first stage is certainly a single entity without any boosters. Have you considered emptying fuel tanks to mirror the real thing? My gut tells me 6xLV-T45 should do just fine if you tune the fuel load.

Rune. Though to get the most accurate ISP you should use the radial-mounted engines.

Although not special or spectacular, I'm throwing an honorable mention to my spaceplane workhorse fleet. Each has proved itself as an invaluable part of my "no transmit" career (all science returned to Kerbin, no transmitting permitted) where mission cost is important. Not sure how many missions these have flown, but I'm guessing somewhere around a thousand. I've lost 3 flights during reentry, but fault lies with me for attempting to manuver during 4X accel.

My ship, the Avalon. 740 tons of interplanetary exploration-ness. Crewed by 7 Kerbals.

Features nuclear engines to go that distance, living quarters with centrifuge so that the Kerbals can enjoy some gravity, a Karbonite miner in tow, and 3 landers, one of which is designed for Eve.

I've even gone and designed the interior:

And my first Hypersonic Dogfighter, the MRK I. Travels above Mach 6 above 35,000m. Fully fueled can circle kerbin 3.5 times. Still hold it's own in low-alt air-to-air combat.
