Do I should load my much earlier save, where I was at Eve? Or I should send Starship MK 2 to Pol to rescue Kerbals and science?

42 days in game passed since launch of Starship V1. Also game is waaay smoother after disassembly (was lagging at 150 parts o.o).

Having mods installed does not make your question mod related :)

I also say go for a rescue mission. They're fun. Far more fun than re-doing the same mission over again.

And I feel your feel regarding hitting F5 by accident. Done that one more than once and it's never a good time :)
