What is missing here?

Okay, I know, I know, its just a game. BUT, heres whats bugging me. I was using as you can see in the image below parts from ARM which were helped in design by REAL NASA stuff that is actually going to fly in space to do epic things. Okay, question. What is missing in the picture center of picture, in that engine bell

I get that its a game, but, where is the exhaust port opening in the in game engine? I mean, it was approved by NASA i think so why does it lack what is in that 2nd image?

It is a well known fact that Kerbals love to paint the inside of their engine nozzles with fake shadows and glares, so that at first glance one can be fooled in thinking that their engines have no exhaust port and run on MAGIC!!i1! alone.

It's obvious; the exhaust is expelled through an infinitesimally small hole in the rocket exhaust cone.

There are no visible holes at the ends (and sides!) of fueltanks either, but it is still burned up!

I'm more interested in the rest of what you've got built there, OP. Are the LV-909s for course correction/small burns? What are those radial fuel lines for? Got any more pics?

The exhaust port closes the instant the engine is shut off. There's a little black door in there to prevent kraken particles from going into the engine.

I think engines from Kosmos have the holes. I appreciate a good hole on an engine and dislike non-hole engines, but not enough to open a thread about it.

Once the game is "Scope Complete", I would imagine we'll see some polish added to areas like this.

I can grab more pics for you later Red Iron Crown. The LV-909 motors are descent engines for landing in Low Gravity environs such as Mun or Minmus. Those fuel lines are set up more for visual appeal than anything else, but are set in a way that they feed from that top most tank out to the 4 others.

Red Iron Crown, IF your interested in the craft, it contains stock parts, Novapunch and Mechjeb. Id not advise atmospheric re-entry and limit its use to vacuum environments. It will survive a launch through Kerbins atmosphere w/out a fairing, but, I am uncertain if it would survive re-entry speeds being as big as it is.

Why would the engine bells need more polishing? Look at that shine!

The Mainsail and Skipper aren't like that, nor are any of the other engines. All Squad needs is to open up the texture files in some basic image-editing software - Microsoft Paint would do - and darken the area in the middle of the engine bell. Piece of cake.

But it's not really a big deal at all. I wouldn't let it worry me.

I just think that if we are going to polish things down the road, this is something that should be polished. Is it game breaking to NOT have the exhaust port? no. is it nice to see it on models that DO have it? yes. Would it be nice to see it across the board? yes.
