If you could only install 3 KSP mods... which 3 would it be?

Mechjeb, because this game is tedious without autopilot

Procedural Fairings, because it's awesome

Navyfish's Docking Alignment because it makes life more better.

In fact, those ARE the only 3 mods I have installed right now.

But Alarm clock is going back in once I get further along in this career.

Ok...

VOID, because it gives you all the information you need without taking up all the screen

Proc. Fairings, just because it doesn't feel right to launch a probe without a fairing :P

Texture Replacer, i can't live without my custom Jeb, Bob and Bill textures!

I would REALLY miss Soundtrack Editor though

Kerbal Alarm Clock

Kerbal Engineer (with all command pods tweak)

Docking Alignment Indicator

Hands down, no difficulties, these are the most useful mods for this game IMO.

These three. Plus hyperedit in exchange for engineer when rebooting a universe on the SSI Universe DMP Server.

I'm down with that, but why fairings and not hot rockets, cool rockets, kerbpaint, or any other number of mods that spiff up your rockets and don't hurt their performance?

You need fairings to make your rockets look generally like actual rockets. You don't need any of those other mods; they might improve effects some, but stock already has the essential "fire comes out of rocket", while not having "remotely correct shape at the top" [you can do fairings with structural panels, but that's a lot of effort].

That's fair*. I still wouldn't pick a purely visuals mod over all the gameplay enhancement mods I have (and even had a hard time picking what 3 I simply couldn't live without) but I'm kind of a mod junkie. I just can't imagine taking better looking rockets for the first few minutes of flight over something like Kerbal Engineer or PreciseNode which give benefits at every stage of flight. Plus, I consider them "part of the game" and wouldn't enjoy playing without them. Which is probably how you feel about fairings... :)

*see what I did there?

I wonder how many of you would end up installing four mods instead of the required three. *cough* looks at sig *cough*

Also, post #1818.

Lol, I'm going to say required dependencies don't count. If Toolbar has to be installed for it to function, it's not part of the total 3. ;)

Aww, you're mean.

Well I didn't say it was a bad addon or anything, I use it for everything that supports it and actually try to limit myself to addons that do support it. But it's still a dependency and in fact serves no purpose itself without other mods, so logically it shouldn't count toward the cap. But that's just my opinion.

I don't know that there are many mods that truly depend on Toolbar. Use it and support it, yes; require it, not so much. (Not a knock against the mod, I use it and love it).

I bet ModuleManager is up there, if we're looking at dependencies. Maybe Firespitter's dll, too.
