Yes. Health Before KF.

Although KSP 1.0.5 was the first UPDATE that I downloaded, it still runs slowly on my machine. No graphics card. But anyway, re-downloading 1.0.5 means I can get KF working, BD FPS working... i sense an ALL OUT WAR coming my way!

Could you give us an estimate of when the mod will be updated for 1.1?

"Fish Slap"

When it's done.

Wait, you don't have a graphics card? Or is KSP not using it?

Either way, that's why it's running slow.

Integrated graphics (using the processor for a GPU) graphics cards are better integrated is much less expensive.

But at the same time, integrated is terrible for actual gaming. There are some games that also simply do not support integrated graphics. Magicka comes to mind as one that will not render the graphics if the device has integrated graphics.

As such, I'm a firm believer that a proper graphics card is a good thing to have. Especially with something as... resource heavy... as KSP can be.

KSP is often CPU bound, in which case the graphics performance is irrelevant.

I admit I've been considering going back to 1.0.5, fixing the power consumption issues in the KF plugin, and playing there.

But if your graphics are -also- running on the CPU it merely makes the problem even worse.

In theory, but these days they don't. "Integrated" graphics might be physically built into the CPU and might well compete with the CPU for memory bandwidth, but I'm not aware of any option these days that actually uses CPU _cycles_ to do graphics.

True enough on modern 'integrated' graphics.  Mostly today it comes down to it being an actual GPU core that is integrated into the CPU package/die.  They do still often share system memory (and bandwidth), which is much slower than graphics memory (I don't know the % difference offhand, but it is not small).  I'll give them the credit that they are -much- better than they were even 4-5 years ago (during the Intel GMA 9XX days; ohh-so-terrible).

But... you'll never catch me doing anything more than office work on a PC with integrated graphics.  Some of them are 'capable' of doing light gaming, for some definitions of 'capable' (but not mine).  If it is all you have, and it works for you, great.  I find the performance wholly unacceptable though except in much older games (of which KSP might qualify; its not exactly graphics intensive).  I'm a long-time PC gamer though and have always built my own PC's, so I likely have a highly subjective opinion on the matter.  I also don't consider anything below 60fps to be playable... so there's also that feeding into my opinion.

Sorry to side-track the thread a bit, and sorry if I ruffled any feathers; did not intend to start any drawn out discussions on the subject, and should probably learn to just keep my opinions to myself

Depends on the integrated graphics and the dedicated GPUs you are comparing, but most integrated graphics barely have access to 20-30GB/s memory bandwidth, a bit more if memory overclocking is factored in. All but the absolute weakest modern GPUs or most older (DX9) mid to upper range GPUs can crank more than that (easily hundreds of GB/s). Shoot my secondary GPU, which is using outdated DDR3 in 3 memory channels cranks more than that.

Anyways, some older games (Anything running on first gen Unreal Engine, a couple of games on second gen Unreal Engine) had the option to do software rendering, which as you may have guessed, bypasses the GPU entirely and does all of the rendering on the CPU core(s). KSP though I'm pretty sure does not have a software rendering mode.

I have Integrated graphics,  can run KSP fine... good graphics settings, you know... the norm....

It's worth noting that KSP is not the most graphically demanding game in the world. The sheer bulk of its rendering is done on the physics side. I'm not surprised at all it runs fine on integrated graphics if you've got a beast of a CPU, conversely my GTX960 laughs at it(I can waggle the graphics settings wildly and not get a single twitch in my framerates no matter where I put those sliders!) while my AMD 720BE tricore chokes and dies if my partcount creeps north of 150-ish.

Hey guys we have really gotten off track here. Lets try and get back to wheels and tracks. Graphics debates can be taken to another more appropriate thread within the forum if you really want to continue

Considering what was just announced last page, no estimates are possible.

Also, lest we forget...

Just read that last page. It contained info that I can make use of. Is it just me, or does the last page of replies always have the info I'm asking for?

One more thing: get well soon, lo-fi!

Hey, are we allowed to make suggestions for wheel designs?

I don't think anyone can stop you, but at the moment it is quite futile - and when KF does once again bestride the world like a colossus, it will be quite possible to use it with wheels you model yourself.

Please feel free :) something I used to love about this thread was the rich diversity of suggestions and wild ideas people threw our way. Great for motivation, and reminding us that we do this for fun! I can't guarantee I'll want to make a particular thing anyone might suggest, but inspiration is always welcome, even though there's lots of work still to be done on the plugin.

Thanks again for the kind words.

Suggest, discuss, dream.... Always welcome here.

It will update when it updates. Asking for updates will not speed up the process.
