Dakitess Corporation - Mendacium (Aesthetic Heavy Launcher)

Recommended Posts

I'm here to share my new heavy launcher, the DC - Mendacium :)

First of all, take a look at this short Youtube Video to show it in action :

I hope you enjoyed it, do not hesitate to tell what to improve, and of course suscribe if you liked it !

But since a short video cannot show the engineering involved in this launcher, here are some complementary pics about details et explications associated :

Specifically made to carry a particular payload, this launcher has a large stock fairing, able to protect almost anything while respecting style and aerodynamic aspect.

1100t are necessary on the launchpad for the presented configuration. You sould be able to put 2 full XXL tank in orbit at 400km, reasonnable nah ?

Well, no more place inside, maybe we'll talk about this special payload another time.

90% of power, the curve of gravity turn is smooth and the velocity steps are ideal, with about 100 m/s at 2500m et 300 m/s at 10000m.

First stage run out of fuel, sepratrons will lead the whole thing in a frank auto-rotation, allowing the lateral booster to jettison safely and without involving heat problem :

Centrifugal effect is really efficient and reliable ! Of course you'll need to stop the rotation, this is why you can find another group of sepratrons on the remaining rocket. Isn't is beautiful ? :)

In addition, and this is not a detail, Asparagus from lateral to central is not completely respected : the lateral boosters can still be powered after their tanks are empty, thanks to fuel line from central to engine directly, without filling the tanks. Then you decide precisely when you want to decouple, an important advantage when you are carrying heavy payload that would be too much for the second stage if it too early.

The homemade fairing while separating... Yeah I must say i'm kinda proud :P And this is a liberation regarding framerate...

This rocket design won't stop here since we have one stage more, to circularize and eject from Kerbin SOI.

To finish and always in a perspective of versatility, this last engine car be jettisoned to offer a pure tank, in order to give huge amount of DeltaV for an interplanetary Nuke powered mission.

I Hope you liked it, Please tell me if you have any questions :D

If you like it, then I'm happy and the lots of hours spent to design it are worthy.

In first, the whole launcher as a VAB file. It would be difficult to use, since it's hard to build inside the fairing. So prefer using the second one, the whole launcher as SubAssembly file. You will find a sooooo convenient Sub that you can mount directly "under" your payload since the stack point is at the base of the fairing. Just take it from SubAssembly and "slide" it under the payload you've created. Only one condition : start you payload by a part that you'll let free underneath. The stack part from the subassembly will be a large decoupler, so you don't have to worry about it :)

The 2 other files correspond to the two different subassemblies, the two major stage. The 2nd contains the final stage with the fairing and the other one is the huge base, with the four lateral boosters and the central column.

Well enough words, juste take them and try, you'll find pretty easily, it looks complicated like this, whereas it is all the contrary, made to be really simple and friendly ;)

Give me any feedback !
