Eleven
Odd it should have just snapped like the rest...I remember reading somewhere back that you should start assembly from the roll cage on down. So I went back in and started there and when I got to the chair this time, I noticed it's starting position in the VAB is rotated. I didn't notice that the first time. So it was a simple matter of turning it correctly and it popped right in.
bazz
Any plans in the future for other packable vehicles? An RCS powered space bike would be cool or a resource miner / tanker version of pack rat.Oh oh! What about a little fan boat?!?
forsaken1111
I'd like to see a small KAS-buildable solar/ion aeroprobe. Land, unpack, build, fly!

Errol
I'd like to see a small KAS-buildable solar/ion aeroprobe. Land, unpack, build, fly!http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/86695-0-23-5-0-24-Pack-Rat-Modular-Rover-v-0-1-1-2014-07-18?p=1376078&viewfull=1#post1376078I just downloaded throttle controlled avionics, so I will be removing all RCS systems from it, and perhaps I'll switch down to a small probe core or nothing for SAS, depending on what the avionics needs. In short, the next version should be able to levitate on duna.EDIT: Also there is a config file that adds KAS storage and attachment definitions to many stock and mod parts small enough that you would expect them to work as such. This includes all stock surface mount parts if I'm not mistaken. The first attempt at building my hover car was a super tiny simple probe with a single xenon tank and ion drive and a couple rcs ports for translation and a soil sampler from karbonite to scan for suitable base locations. It really makes the packrat far more relevant. Here is the .cfg:http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/71683-A-Mechanic-Is-Jeb-or-KAS-For-Almost-Everything Edited August 29, 2014 by Errol

Errol
Rover, could you add a few spare extra attachment nodes to the all the parts in this pack? It would go a long way with allowing more variety when I'm not limited to surface mounting.

Sirius
It appears that the rover counts as "Local Control" for Remote Tech even though no kerbal is on the craft. Just a minor thing. I'm loving it sofar!

I'm loving it sofar!I'm not sure, but the rover itself shouldn't have a "control body", that's achieved via the external seat. And as far as I know, the seat is set to be control-capable for RT, meaning you get "Local Control" for it, that or it's just missing actual RT compatibility. BananaDealer
It's just a default command seat with an added node Though it may get an interesting refresh in the next version.Yeah, that's what I meant. Also, for the next version, and do ignore this if not at all possible to make; but have you considered making a specialised US/KAS container that, when grabbed and activated by a Kerbal, "pops" (and I do mean literally pop, like a bag of popcorn) into the Pack-Rat Rover, fully assembled (into an in-editor, pre-determined configuration) and ready to go?I know the rover can already be assembled via KAS and fits into KAS storage, but you gotta admit- this would be fun as well. Sirius
Hmm, interesting. The rover can't be controlled without a probe attached to it though, right? It can, it's possibly the mechjeb module causing the issue though.I'm having a hell of a time getting it going on minmus though. Takes forever to get up to speed, even after doing the torque fix posted earlier. Is that fix not retroactive? (Do I need to create a new rover after editing the file?) Errol
KAS or non-KAS? This is importantFor use in VAB. That would be none KAS I think. I didn't know you could attach things to nodes in KAS to be honest, I've only ever really used KAS to attach struts to stations so far..... sober667
If anything, add the MechJeb module to the front bit (with the lights)ooo i see it has a probe.good think would be to add torque to one of the parts to be able to flip it bach on low gravity i atchated to it one from mods i have ( cact eye if i good remember) so i can flip it back to weels(and not need to reasemble it)and another think to be compatible withi RT2 it is simple only add module MODULE { name = ModuleSPU } MODULE { name = ModuleRTAntennaPassive TechRequired = unmannedTech OmniRange = 3000 TRANSMITTER { PacketInterval = 0.3 PacketSize = 2 PacketResourceCost = 15.0 } } Edited September 7, 2014 by sober667

goldenpsp
YAY!I was gonna get to bed but now I must play late. Does this cause any existing save issues? I noticed on another thread the possibility of the packrat getting slightly larger for compatibility with attached items from your other packs.
