Not kidding. This looks terrible to me.. I can see pixles all over the place. No way this is 8k..

The sky in oblivion looks waaaaay better than this.

I shouldn't be seeing pixles in every star I look at.

I shouldn't be seeing pixles in the milkyway.

I do.

I have only find a very few of these skyboxes that don't have this problem.

I wish this was one of them because it is my favorite.

Do you have the image quality at full size in settings?

Skyboxes are also affected by the quality settings, not only parts.

I think part of the problem may be using straight cylindrical panoramas as a skybox. Looking online, the instructions for making a proper skybox include pre-processing the image to a spherical projection first. I think the game engine is doing some ugly transformation at load-time to make the cylindrical panoramas work as a skybox, but it's wrecking image quality/resolution in the process.

Hello, these are beautiful but do I need to rename them or change the file extension ? Cant seem to get them to work and also the other skybox was in the EnvMap folder in texture replacer. Do I need to delete them?

I think part of the problem may be using straight cylindrical panoramas as a skybox. i made my own by cropping 1 imagwe into 6 small parts, it didnt doistort but they were 49.8 mb each

i had a massive 48,9mb immage, it had some txture glitches at the join and it was a deep space image from hubble so was more galaxys than solar stars but it looked sweet

Lost my original copy of this tex replacement a while back, hunted it out earlier, found this post, installed it and was puzzled at how fuzzy it was in game.

Then realised whilst fiddling with files and folders that the images were tiny, around 600k a piece, despite high res.

After some more hunting, i found an original forum post on a Universe Replacer thread by Rareden.

I then stumbled into this link: Raredens HD Skybox rev 4

Which, incidentally, was the one i was looking for and i'm sure you lot are too...

Happy days, chow those snacks if you got 'em. =]

Noticed this isn't up on CKAN yet (at least not independently from other texture packs).  I started working on a CKAN file for it.

I am 99% sure the textures are two years old. Have you tested the textures yet?

It's a mediafire link which has been removed by squad.  Just click on the link and manually insert mediafire and a .com before the  /download

That will fix it.
