Add funds symbol to emoticons

it would be really useful-

No longer would one have to say 'funds' or 'roots' or put down the symbol for square root- they could just say :funds: and have the symbol there in the same fashion as these Kerbal heads:

:cool::sticktongue::kiss:

Now you know what it's like to be a trans-Neptunian object. Drifting around far away in the outer reaches of the Forum System, enduring bitter cold and eternal loneliness inside your moonless SOI.

And that's a nice idea, by the way!

Incidentally, if you're reading the forums on an iWhatever, you can set a keyboard shortcut easily. Whenever I type sqrt it automatically converts to √; whenever I type dlt it converts to ÃŽâ€.

It is a good idea to add it to the emoticons, though.

Mods? We don't have those permissions. The higher-ups do, though. Probably. Though I don't know if vBulletin's emoticon system will actually do a text-replace. It is, however, possible to implement it as a bbcode tag (I think) -- replace [d] or [delta] with ÃŽâ€, and replace [f] or [funds] with √.

I don't know how but I am convinced vBulletin can auto-replace texts. Look what's currently happening when you quote an image (thanks to an extra plugin). The %7Boption%7D tag is replaced with an tag. Even replacing an :emoticon: tag with the actual image is a simple behind the scenes text replacement.

Could be worth if an admin would ask around on the vBulletin Forum.

Four ways of doing it:

  1. Add it as a smiley, which requires an image (yuk).
  2. Add a specific term under the Replacement Variable Manager and have it spit out an agreed ASCII character instead (applies retrospectively, but is style-specific and not constrained to post content... so yuk).
  3. Install a mod that can replace post content specifically (overkill, introduces version fragility... so yuk)
  4. Add it as a custom BB Code and use aforementioned ASCII character (best option, simple, but requires fannying around with CKEditor if you want it linked as a button a la Sketchfab)

What's so bad about 1?
