It seems that even 10 layer thick steel plates are vulnerable to 50 cal fire if concentrated, such as the fact that my tiny AA drone tank can take down basically anything you put it against.

How long does that take? Also radiators mixed in after the first layer helps a fair bit.

30-45 seconds, but a battery of say, 6 to 8 can shred a tank rather quickly.

That is sadly the side effect of the current heat system. Realistically that would do little damage. However, I expect that spamfire craft are not used for this reason.

Just think of what you could do with 50 clusterbombs on 1600rpm

Hah, reminds me of my old cruise missile tests. I'll have you know that 24 high explosive warheads scattered over a 200 meter radius is nothing to trifle with.

I've delayed most of my weapons tests until the next full update. Instead I've been messing around with the OPT parts. Hit +2100m/s in atmo. Then combusted because the heat shield overheated.

Why use a drone when you can have a kerbal do it!

Yeah but if the layers have space between them, the heat from one plate won't transfer to the next. This takes a while to beat down. If the plates are slapped right on top of each other, hits will heat multiple layers of armor at once. Believe me, I've tested this. I'm not saying they are invulnerable, but I am saying that it is a way to maximize the time your craft can survive under steady fire. Time is everything. The best tanks can lose a ton of parts, but still do their job. If you want to test it, get my Personnel Carrier and my Soulflare off of KerbalX, and see how they fare.

Still not a submission.

Yes, that is a sad thing about the heat system used by BD armory. Since everything is heated continually and the heating stacks up, damage dealt can be ridiculously strong.

I do know how to set RPM on bombs, but each time I hold my fire button, the bombs just fall off one by one, slowly, each time I press.. Can you quickly autofire them, or do you need the AI to do it?

You can, in the weapon manager tab select Ripple after selecting a droppable weapon. (missiles work too) The slider allows you to change the rate of fire (too many at once in an unoptimized setup = premature boom)

Make sure your system can take it though. Lots of bombs/missiles = lots of physics calculations to do.

Hey @HatBat, would you please consider allowing this mod?

It only has one part, and it makes things invisible. Uses electricity in a ratio to the surface area of your craft. Not invisible to radar, but I thought it could be used for the space destroyers.

Nice idea, but he is already using special effects anyway. Helpful if he needs that effect, but probably not mind blowing enough to change the submission rules.

That's what I meant.

For like when the ships warp.

But gee, it would be cool if we could submit ships with that mod.

@HatBat, I had a question for you. What kind of crafts do you need most? I'm looking for more ideas for what to build, and I thought I'd see if you have a specific lack of crafts that not many have built yet.

Also, are you actually using the Kethane mod, or just the stock drilling system and calling it Kethane? If the latter, I might be able to submit my Mun mining system.

Mycroft, I'd advise you to just wait for Episode 25 and the new thread. Things will be much more well-spelled-out, and it'll be a much more streamlined submission process.

In the meantime, you just need to be patient and wait.

This thing looked pretty awesome.

It does.

Do the bombs that fall slower get destroyed by the ones that boom first? I can see that as being a potential problem. Also accurate aim at high speeds / altitudes seems limited. Might be able to cfg magic that.

No, each bomb individually detonates, followed by the decouplers hitting the ground. The closest I've come to aiming is strapping on a Mk82 and using the fall lead as aiming reticle, but the bombs fall some distance behind the aiming circle.

I would guess the mk82 with the brake would match the aerodynamic properties of the warheads better...

or, MOAR BOMBS:cool:
