Let's not bring the religious aspect into this. There are just some places we cannot live. There are not enough resources to support human life in some of these areas. It's too hot, not enough water, etc. Humans have a comfort zone, we can exist outside of this comfort zone as long as there is technology that brings it back down to the comfortable level (air conditioning, dehumidifiers etc.).
