Extreme coincidence on a Duna mission!

I launched a probe to orbit Duna, pictured here. After I set up the transfer burn node, I was treated to the spectacular scene in the above image.

It's little moments like this that remind me why space travel is so awesome.

Is that a Mun eclipse? Those aren't actually all that rare. I get one every other time I do an interplanetary burn, and you will certainly get one if you wait until the right time while in a low equatorial orbit. Still, fantastic screenshot.

Duna, Ike, Jool, Laythe, Vall, Tylo, Kerbin, and the Mun all have orbits with very little to no inclination which make eclipses extremely common in KSP.

Yeah if that's Mun you get one of those about every 7 Kerbal days (1.6 hu-man days). Amazing when you first see one, annoying when you're trying to do something with your probe and it's blocking the Sun

Actually, I had solar panels AND RTGs, because two missions to Jool and Eve failed because their solar panels weren't oriented correctly.

I once crashed a rover on the mun that was out of control due to an eclipse and an obvious lack of batteries. I quick loaded like 5 times and crashed again and again before I realized what was actually going on. Not a proud moment....

Do have to agree with Renegade. Ion powered or needs lots of electricity to run properly.

Regardless that most players have witnessed a kerbol munar eclipse, it still is an awesome moment... And the first thing i needed to do after that moment, was to post those pics here on the forums.
