I seem to have hit a bit of a road block, i have installed the mod in the gamedata folder, and i also included the dll file. However no parts are appearing in the VAB. So i was wondering if i need to do anything with the source folder or wether i just need the gamedata folder of the mod.

I would love to get this mod back in my collection as my constructs are getting to big for them to hold together anymore.

So, your log shows every indication that the mod is being correctly loaded and the parts are being correctly compiled. If you're playing a Career game, only the Quantum Strut part will appear in the list, and it should be towards the back of Utility. Note that you'll have to unlock it first; it's quite deep in the tree. In Sandbox mode you should get three parts (two are deprecated), also towards the back of Utility.

I checked on my development install to be sure they're there, and I do see them. If you still can't find them after further investigation let me know and I'll... try to thing of something to test.

I have been hit with quite a major bug. When I'm in orbit, and I have several quantum struts active, the vessel starts being pulled down towards Kerbin, and I end up crashing into the surface. None of the struts touch or cross. Also, when I launch a vessel it's like the struts are keeping me on Kerbin, basically it won't let me lift off, just keeps the vessel locked in place.

Atsu, the latter is a known bug, if it is what I think it is. Have a look at the sticky launch pad fix here.

The former sounds like Exceptional Behavior. If you can get me a log (Windows: \path\to\KSP_win\KSP_Data\output_log.txt; Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Squad/Kerbal\ Space\ Program/Player.log; Mac: ~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log), I'll see what I can see. :)

I had a look at the log myself, but all I got was a headache, I hope you have better luck :P It also only appears to happen (the pulling-down-to-kerbin thing) when it's on a multisection vessel, like my spacestation of 2 docked parts. It also only happened to the struts that was vertical, not the ones horizontal on the ship (only those on the top and bottom part of the ship, not the ones on the side.) I'll toss up a vid so you can have a look at what I do.

I had to shorten is a bit because of the 100k char limit.

So, there aren't any clues in there, except that FAR is trying to find something and isn't finding it where it thinks it should be; but that's not always wrong. In any case, I'm pretty sure the log got cut off before flight even loaded up, and it also missed all of the loading stuff so I can't tell if things are broken on that end of things.

If you can, copy it to something like pastebin, or upload it to something like Google Drive or dropbox. Once I see your video I'll see if I can reproduce.

Keep your eye on the Periapsis and Apoapsis as I turn on and off the quantum struts.

I found this thread browsing KerbalStuff there are no images and no description in the OP besides referencing an old mod.

As I am relatively new, this old reborn mod is a new mod to me.. so besides the obvious fact its some kind of strut mod.

What is it, what does it do?

Welcome, Aivoh! I'll try to get some screenshots and explanatory material up soon.

In brief, Quantum Struts are parts that "project" a strut in a ray out from their point of placement, based on the rotation you assign in the editor. The first part on your ship that is intersected by that ray will be attached to the strut's host as though there were a regular strut there, with the caveat that you can turn it off and on as you see fit. This makes it useful for adding rigidity to composite vessels built in orbit (like space stations or big interplanetary motherships), or for vessels that change configuration (e.g. with Magic Smoke's Infernal Robotics), where a standard strut either could not be applied at all, or would prevent the actuated parts from moving.

OMG, toadicus, you the man for reviving this mod. I hate the wobbling docking ports in this game so much it almost made me quit playing, it's VERY annoying. I just used your quantum struts continued mod with one of the tiny docking ports from the tantares and it works amazing. You sir are getting a donation tomorrow.

I have been hit with quite a major bug. When I'm in orbit, and I have several quantum struts active, the vessel starts being pulled down towards Kerbin, and I end up crashing into the surface. None of the struts touch or cross. Also, when I launch a vessel it's like the struts are keeping me on Kerbin, basically it won't let me lift off, just keeps the vessel locked in place.

There is an issue with docking port pairs assembled in the VAB or SPH, then bridged with Quantum Struts or Strut Guns. They tend to not automatically let go on a Decouple Node but they do on an Undock. Sometimes they may not let go when bridging decouplers, but that rarely happens. What you end up with is dropped parts still connected to your ship by really long stretched out struts.

The mod needs updated to make sure the struts disconnect when there's a Decouple Node event between the part(s) the strut emitters are attached to and the part(s) the struts touch.

Also, don't mount the emitters on or allow the struts to touch "massless" parts and some other small parts. I recently tried an old rocket from .21 (built before KJR) which had Quantum Struts mounted onto small hardpoints, then aimed up and inward to brace an upper stage. Welll, that no longer works in .90. The Hardpoints' connection to the tanks they were attached to broke (or somehow became very stretchy) and they were wobbling around on the pad, but not changing their orientation.

I launched anyway to see what would happen. ;) The hardpoints got to whipping around ever more violently, yet maintaining orientation with the rocket, until the four of those very lightweight parts threw the rocket into a spin.

Sooo, don't mount Quantum struts to Small Hardpoints, or the little cubical or octagonal "strut" girder blocks, or the TR-38-D (unless you fix it by deleting the erroneous physics significance line in that part's cfg file). Don't cross the streams allow the strut beams to touch those parts.

What happens if the strut beams touch (or are mounted on) those parts is not good. At best the ship will be unable to rotate in any direction. At worst, you have a rapid dis-assembly, explosions and parts on escape trajectories.

There mod creator, I sent you a little something for you time in reviving this mod. I love it, now I don't have to use stupid docking port seniors on everything. Love it. Thanks for bringing this mod back to KSP for the community, I love KSP but cannot stand stupid wobbling parts.

Thanks for bringing this back, it's been super helpful! I haven't really been able to figure out the difference between the two parts, though. Aside from cost I can't seem to get either one to do anything different. Am I missing something?!

I don't believe there is out of the box, it's just cosmetic. I've made changes to the configs myself to change the force and power to the strut gun dosn't use power but is weaker while the quantum one is much stronger and uses power as I felt it more fit their respective natures. :)

QuantumStrutsContinued has been updated to version 1.3! This version is recompiled for KSP 1.0 and finally removes the long-deprecated Strut Core parts.

To those who asked; there is no default difference between the strut gun and the quantum strut, the strut gun is just intended to look a little more "real". I like JeffreyCor's tweaks... maybe I'll integrate them officially some day.
