Just landed in crater, it was the flattest surface nearby, and...

I think it is not monolith, not exact shape, and emblem :D But it was first, what I thought about.

P.S. Broke one leg, I am afraid of moving closer, can lost one of engines...

I did discover a lander that no longer shows up on my map though, so I\'ll be sending my first cart to go an investigate that. It\'s within driving range of the super crator, and even if the Obelisk isn\'t in there, I\'d like another look.

You mean a lander that you put down, right?

Yeah. It\'s started showing up on the map again too.

I\'d find the monolith a lot faster if the game would store like the last 3 autosaves. I learned to not do them while airborn, but after that fiasco was able to touch down long enough to make a new one before going up in flames again. I\'ve also had one spawn me under the surface. Flying back up through didn\'t kill me, but it turn my cart into 3 seperate craft (my engine blew up, a landing leg came off and the cart separated from my pod+ASAS).

I have decided that rather than drive a full nealry 100km between objectives, I should should launch a new lander for every target. Fortunately I think I have perfected my fourth generation of Mun Rocket which now carries a rover instead of a proper landing pod (though if I got going really fast I could get back into orbit and return home. The landing would suck though).

Also, terrestrial carts are not for me. And the game glitched up and froze like 2 minutes away from what I believe to be the location of the second space centre (I need to make a new plane that is more sluggish too). I really like it when I fudge the controls and the plane descended from 13km to about 7 while still going 400m/s. Think iron man after he made his suit ice up. Your only hope is to air brake until your at a speed where you can control the craft for real again.

Makes me want a real joy stick instead of a controller.

By the way guys...

Operation Fool was a complete success:

I knew it!

(but then again, I\'ve been looking at the internals of the game, so I couldn\'t say it before XD)

Yeah, I\'ve had that with my discarded descent stage on the Munar surface. Sometimes it shows up on the map, other times it doesn\'t. Not sure what\'s up with that.

This game really needs a proper savegame system. You do have quicksave (F5/F9), but it works pretty much only when it feels like it. After having my rover explode for no reason while traveling a leisurely 10m/s across a flat plain, I\'ve taken to regularly stopping, exiting to the space center, and backing up the save file manually.

That\'s not a bad idea. Every 5 minutes I should probably back up the persistance and auto save, because even though that takes a while and is generally annoying, it would allow me to be sure I can recover to a working state without needing to send up another rocket (which is a good 30 min investment).

Thanks for the idea.

I don\'t suppose anyone wants to give me a bit of a hint as to whether I should be looking on the near or far side of the Mun. I don\'t normally do orbits, so I am used to landing all my rockets on the near side, and that\'s where I am going to start.

It would be funny when the devs add exactly this pyramid to the game so no one would believe the lucky person who finds it first ;P

Huzzah! Finally found it!

I finally got so frustrated with having to launch a new lander for every crater, or trekking rovers between them, that I made a huge 13.5 tank lander that could land at several craters in one go. Turns out to be a pretty fun way to get around, nothing like catching a ride on a balistic ICBM to get to work in the morning :P.

As a side note, Mech-Jeb/AR202\'s landing autopilot can be frighteningly accurate. I set it to drop the second lander on the first\'s coordinates, and then almost aborted the landing because I thought they were going to hit. I think if I hadn\'t rotated a bit the second lander would have stepped on the first\'s foot :P

Now to begin construction of a base to study why giant monkey aliens left a monument on Mun, and determine the danger of a possible alien invasion of Kerbin to steel our bananas...

You cunning rotten swine! ;D

The only trick I fell for this year (though the BBC announcing the Earth had exploded was fun), I must applaud you once more!

Please don\'t fly near the McHoney Medwedian Army Base or you will be shot down by the Anti-Aircraft Artillery. I will notify they, and then, they will not shot you down.

This isn\'t the roleplay section, medwed :P

Man I suck at egg hunting. I\'ve passed all craters at about 700-1500m and haven\'t found nothing. Then I 'rovered' in each and everyone of them, still nothing. There are more bodies on the Mun than living people on Kerbin.

Eye surgery it is !

On a similar vein, my probe has failed. I did some config edits to my decent engine from the lander kit, and it can probably hop craters a couple times, but I\'m not even sure I found any promising landing sites. Unless I am mistaken in my literal interpretation of the obelisk being on the equator (I am assuming it was put someplace people are likely to land).

I really wish I could see the whole Mun in daylight at the same time.

Starting to wish I didn\'t know about this so I could stop looking S:|

i\'ve run about three small ships out looking, i\'m trying to get a cart out there, but i\'ve never been able to get a cart safely to the mun

I got my prototype buggy their on the test run, but whilst driving about, put the brake on too hard and did a front flip...BaBoom!!

I spent 4 hours last night perfecting the ship so it is sturdy, easy to handle and has plenty of fuel...Doing the tests though i\'ve ended up with 5 ships just orbiting Kerbal =P

This evening I\'ll be departing a final Cart buggy ship to the Mun and try to rendezvous with my other landed vessel....Whilst searching for a easter present ;D

It\'s not on the equator, it\'s near the equator. And it\'s far enough and small enough that if you\'re on the equator, you won\'t be able to see it.

Nobody reported any damage to their craft while flying over the base. Your AA must be absolute rubbish, man. :D

The aircraft were identified, but not each aircraft can be identified.

All non-identified aircraft will be destroyed.

10% of all aircrafts were not identified. I don\'t want that your aircraft will be even in these 10%

Okay, that helps. I can rule out all my first picks then lol.

And I think I now where the second space center is, but every plane I send freezes up 2/3 of the way there >:(

Going to try one more, and I guess I\'ll have to risk landing it to save every few minutes. At least it will give me something to do.
