When Female Kerbals are added, be sure to make at least one an orange-suit.

Do the white suits not actually respawn in non-permadeath, because I am pretty sure that is just a myth that the white suits don't respawn. So I don't see whatt the point is unless you are going to use it to attract attention to her. Though I guess I would be fine with it.

Currently, white suits and orange suits both follow the same setting for permadeath. The idea of having permadeath for the white suits but having the orange suits come back is pretty common though; common enough that it may be based on the behavior of a past version.

Whatever version adds female kerbals should have some recruited by default for the benefit of players who don't recruit white suits until they need more than three active kerbals, and giving both the old and new starting kerbals the orange suits is probably the easiest and least controversial approach. Maybe add a few more male orange suits named after well-known astronauts and cosmonauts while they're at it.

I don't think it's necessary to have an orange suited female Kerbal but it wouldn't bother me if there was one. If there is, I think she should be Sally.

Not for Sally Ride, but because the name goes very well with Jeb, Bill, and Bob's names. "Jeb, Bill, Bob, and Valentina Kerman" just doesn't ring true in my ears.

Female is not a race. Racism is discrimination against people based on their ethnic group.

It's not like there is a long line of disappointed male Kerbals who are going to be struggling to provide for their families because a female is added to the orange suits. Nobody would be discriminated against by adding a female to the orange suits. It is not racist, it's not sexist, it's not a problem at all unless people manufacture some sort of misogynistic outrage about it.

If you mean the scribbled page of test rockets, when I looked at it I saw an astronauts called Kirk, Kurt, johnny, Kelly and Sara Kerman...

I stand corrected.

"Jeb, Bill, Bob, and Valentina Kerman" just doesn't ring true in my ears.

Sally goes well with Bill and Bob, but I think it takes an Abigail to match Jebediah.

LOL imagine that!

Put the suit color of your choose!

I present to you... Ada Kerman, the Jebediah's Daughter.

The skinny Mary Kerman and the chubby Isis Kerman! :D

I can't believe so many people are stuck on this.

So here's my suggestion : Since Kerbun seem to be asexual fungus, just start generating an equal number of female name... without changing any suit at ALL. Not even new clothes in whatever administration building is necessary, we ARE living in a new age of equality after all.

There, that will be my only post on something so trivial, no get back to the new aerodynamic model, at least physics isn't sexist.

There are a few namesake Kerbals in the bunch. Right now I have a Buzz Kerman who should probably pilot my first Mun lander in this save.

I agree that any default female Kerbals should have unique names, but not namesakes. Alice and Sally would work well, but I'm struggling to come up with a counterpart for Jebediah. That name is so rare that it didn't even crack the top 1200 first names in the U.S. in the 2000 census. That makes it less common than Giuseppe, Harland, and Kristoffer.

Any ideas for a rare and badass name for a lead female Kerbal?
