Titan Hunter mk5 SSTO

HLENBIl.jpg

Description:

Part count-335 Cost-228,789.

This cargo hauler was designed to reliably lift up to 15 tons into a 100km orbit and return to kerbin, Easy to fly at any altitude and with air hogging in mind it is very easy to get into orbit.

Action groups:

1. Toggle turbo jets

2. Toggle Rapiers

3. Toggle Rapier engine mode

4. Toggle bay doors

Flight instructions:

On take off pitch up from take off, depending how big your load is it should lift before the end of the run way (At 60t+ it will need to reach the end)

Pitch up to 40 degrees and climb to an altitude of 18,000m, at 18km start to level out and gain speed until around 22,000m and 1400m/s, at this speed pitch up to 35 degree and climb, at around 28,000m start throttling back to 50%, once you reach .30 air intake switch the rapiers to closed cycle mode and continue climbing, at around 32,000m you will need to shut down the turbo jets, from here on out you should be sweet for figuring out your orbit.

Titan Hunter mk5 SSTO carpet bomber

Same plane but with bombs, Whats not to love?

Flight instructions:

Does not need really need any, doubt you will be wanting to orbit some carpet bombs, space bar to drop the bombs, you have to switch to them and deploy them as well.

From what I see, you have 40 tons of liquid fuel and oxidizer (a 4.5t fuel tank holds 360 units of liquid fuel, since 3600/360=10, that 45t including the mass of the tank). There's no way you can lift 112t with that little fuel.

The bombs are (180*0.025t)+(3*0.8t)= 6.9 tonnes.

I believe you are including the mass of the spacecraft with the payload mass.

Edit: Your spaceplane holds 75% as much oxidizer as a 45t tank, which means that you actually have 34.5t of liquid fuel an oxidizer.

wait wait i thought the 37,530 was the weight of the craft in kg?

eg 100,000 = 100 ton?

FL-T800 weighs 2500 for an example, i assumed that was 2.5 ton no?

Edit:

As homer simpson once said. Doh!

That's probably the cost. A FL-T800 weighs 4.5t.

Edit: Yup, you mistook the cost for mass (the probes cost about 20 000 funds, so three of them would cost about 60 000 funds). Number at the bottom left corner is the price of the ship in funds. To see the total mass, click the i in map view.

dear lordie that makes so much more sense lol, i was thinking that satellite was a bit too damned beefy and i was imagining an SSTO 5 times the size to get them in orbit. in any case i have stacked as much as i can into those cargo bays and you cant seem to over fill it.

Edit:

So there a way for me to see the mass without counting the mass of the individual parts then?

Going to change the title to 15 ton that sounds more reasonable with this new info on my silliness, cant see anyone being able to physically put more than that in it without clipping and i know it will lift 20 (idk how i never picked up on that its beside the craft file when you load it lmao)

this download link isn't working. can you post another one?

I'm guessing the answer is probably not, seeing as the author of this post has not visited the forums since 2015, and the thread was made in 2014. The craft may not even work with the current version of KSP.

Welcome to the forums, though, I hope you enjoy your stay! If you're still looking for SSTOs that work in the current version, you should find many throughout the spacecraft exchange section of the forums, or on KerbalX.com. You'll find that craft design has come a long way since 2014.
