Looks like a classic Kraken attack to me. I'd examine the wreckage for any sucker marks and ectoplasmic slime, but the MO is pretty much unmistakable

My guess is he somehow got enough pressure and heat to locally initiate nuclear fusion, thus briefly turning the collision site into a miniature star.

Great video! I'd suggest substituting the landing gear with skids instead. Cubic octagonal struts are your friend. Here's an old video of my own research (also has some good explosions).

Sadly, no. It's a warship made from stock parts obliterating an enemy vessel. However, IF a stock Orion (nuclear pulse detonations, if I'm understanding your question correctly) would be easily feasible, I'd definitely give it a try.

I have one like that! It has a trio of decouplers to separate a stage (the stage above has three engines). One of them decouples the craft; the other two are immediately counted as clipping and go boom.

Not as prettily, though.
