    • Nope. I'm too cool to be attacked by animals.

Hello, guys.

I'm not entirely sure whether this belong there, but Kerbin was attacked by Kraken. You hear me. By Kraken. It ate the KSC, this is where it should be :

It works in the linux version of KSP, and I tried it even in a wine'd version of KSP from my windows machine (sorry devs, just to see the debug), and it happenned again, with the command line reading this (for those who understand linux, I ran wine 1.7, with dbghelp set to disabled, window manager not allowed to do anything but track the mouse, command wine KSP.exe):

I found out that this occurs on my system by making a rover (Or pretty much any rolling thing) go about 20 m/s and make a kerbal go EVA. First, he can't stand up, and when he comes to the point where he can stand up... *plop*

The screen goes black and the altitude reader stops reading anything. The portraits of the kerbals show the snowy screen of death, and everything seems to be clickable for a little while. You can even press esc and go back to KSC, but it's just not there... Also the save seems to be corrupted if you attempt to load it, however I was able to recover the craft.

I know that it's probably an issue specific to my system (Ivy Bridge I7 + Nvidia GT 630M, 6 GB RAM, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty, Bumblebee installed, Wine 1.7, KSP 0.25 x86), but still it's interesting. The kraken doesn't attack every day after all.

Now the last thing left is to name the kraken: I'd call it "The Oblivion Kraken", since KSC and the save itself vanished into oblivion not to be seen again

UPDATE: I'm trying to replicate it again in a window with the console opened along with it: It seems to be a rare issue, it happened to me only once again of about 10 attempts, at first it was showing the signs of a crash:

at (wrapper managed-to-native) UnityEngine.Component:get_renderer ()

at ScreenSafeUIButton.setTextureState (Int32 st) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

at ScreenSafeUIButton.Unlock () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

at SpaceCenterMain.unlockUI () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

at SpaceCenterMain.onInputLockModified (FromToAction`2 ctrls) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

at EventData`1[GameEvents+FromToAction`2[ControlTypes,ControlTypes]].Fire (FromToAction`2 data) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

at InputLockManager.RemoveControlLock (System.String lockID) [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

at SpaceCenterMain.OnDestroy () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

However, it doesn't crash. It just stays there black. Had to force quit the window after, because using the standard ESC way from KSC worked no more.

It seems like a random issue to me. Am i right or did it happen to anybody else?

First, I'd like to commend you on using Linux, I do too.

Second, I have had some disgusting Kraken attacks. In 0.25, I've had rapid unplanned disassembly...IN LAUNCH CLAMPS, ON THE PAD. As soon as physics kicked in, stuff just went FLYING everywhere.

I've experienced the Deformed Kerbal Bug too.

THE KRAKEN LIVES

Wait, why were you running KSP in WINE? The linux version is gobs better in 64-bit, in fact, 64 bit Linux is probably more stable than 32 windoze.

My best Kraken attack was the Hell Kraken. I disconnected a KAS pipe from a Kethane refinery and everything in physics range (including the Kerbal) went through all those numbers 1111111 222222 etc. I exited the game and when I came back, the Kerbal was dead and the two things (Refinery and ship) were LANDED ON THE SUN.

At least, that's what the tracking station said. When I jumped to them they exploded :D

Sure I do run the native linux version. The x86 due to mods, and I wanted to have terminal output. BTW the only reason for installing wine was starcaft 2, which I am addicted to :)
