Rocket Garden KSC Upgrade

Recommended Posts

At Kennedy Space Center's Visitor Center they have something called a "Rocket Garden" (link). I have photos from when I was ten years old visiting that place and staring up in wonder at Atlas and Titan rockets. :) I think that might be a nice upgrade for the space centre - a place where you can put four or five rockets on display and drive rovers around them.

Only issues that come to mind is memory and parts count - some of my launchers are capable of slowing my PC on their own, five of them would melt my PC. :P

Thoughts?

The solution is that you'd meld each launcher in the garden into one part.

yep, if we could make the game turn the outside "skin" of the ship into one big part, then delete all the rest of the polygons, and take physics away, we could do this. Sadly i have no modding skills, but i bet it's possible. SQUAD PLEASE DO THIS!

Simply take the physics away. That's all you need to do*. The lag is caused mostly by each part being simulated simultaneously: if they are not being simulated, all that is happening is simple part rendering, which is not at all laggy on most systems.

*I think... this is how I would envision the problem, correct me by all means if I am incorrect.

Why not make them be buildings using the model of the vehicle it shouldn't be to hard I think but I have just put out actual spacecraft because you can recover them for funds in an emergency which is help full in career mode. Kind of a hidden collateral you can make the displays when you have lots of funds and when times ar tight recover one or two of them for the funds.
